Been with Bulb for a few weeks, happy so far.

It took me fro 2003 to 2018 to make the switch from SP.
sse have been nice though took some time for their online to report usage correctly.
Their advisors are nice also though advising me not to use living room electric fire last year was a bit excessive considering I explained that it was the only source of heating in that room.
Though I understand they were trying their best in helping me avoid high costs over winter.

Switching to Bulb -maybe more time to decide + another upfront payment if I do switch.
And whatever sse deem to be a final payment.
Think i'll time the switch for after next sse bill dues anytime between some dates in May or June.
t.b.h. my own experience SP were light years ahead with their online system including usage and billing.

Any mser wish to explain what Bulbs online system and billing is like to use.

Would be interested to know what their online system is like as well. I'm currently with SO.Energy and found their website very user friendly and never had issues submitting meter readings.
  • Easy to use. One page. Boxes for different areas - billing, usage etc.

Bulb ask you to submit readings monthly, then about 2 days later a statement is produced and the account updated.

To answer an earlier post I find the website very user friendly.

Thanks online was my main sse concern.
If Bulb successfully updates every two days approx both readings and bills.
Then I'll happily return to monthly meter readings as I did for quite a number of years with SP
    That's excellent.
Only financial loss immediately is W.H.D. 140 pounds warm home discount.
    Seems I don't meet Bulb's w.h.d. Eligibility whereas I did with both SP+SSE.

  • They're opening up their whd criteria so if you do switch make sure you check it out https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/115001245512-Can-I-get-the-Warm-Home-Discount-

Are you eligible for the broader group?

Please note that different energy suppliers have different eligibility criteria for the Broader Group. See the explanation provided by Ofgem about this here.

For winter 2018-19, Bulb used BEIS' recommended criteria (listed below). Bulb is looking into increasing this criteria for winter 2019-20. We will update this page when our new criteria has been confirmed

I have been considering Bulb are hoping to open up criteria though time will tell.

Well done to sse csr today who kindly advised I could enter my meter readings anytime and that the previous info that I had from another advisor wan't correct (when they advised I'de 'break the system' if I entered readings too often before next bill is produced.
Anyway <7 pounds in debit brings my account upto date.
Hopefully all going well I shouldn't expect any shock unaffordable final bills in June after Bulb switch 11th May,

I switched from Bulb to another supplier in November 2018.

Yesterday I received an email from Bulb saying they were going to refund me £3.04 as they had overcharged me. Apparently, I had told them that I wanted to switch away within 20 working days of the date a price increase took effect, and by Ofgem’s rule, they should have kept me on their lower original prices until I left - which they failed to do.

I had no idea that I'd been overcharged, but well done I suppose for refunding me - shame it's not more!
