Well I'm absolutely furious. Got an e-mail from Bulb saying that Scottish Power have objected to the switch. I have no idea why, but I'll have to ring up tomorrow and see what's going on. (In hospital this afternoon now).
In the meantime, does anyone have any idea why Scottish Power would reject the switch? There's never been any payment problems with them, and obviously there's some money going to be owed before the switch, but surely that's sorted at the actual switch and the point when our contract with Scottish Power ends?0 -
Only Scottish Power would know why they objected to the switch, Bulb isn't privy to this information. This isn't a fault of Bulb.
There is a useful page from Bulb which explains this but unfortunately MSE is preventing me from showing it.0 -

That's the link I was trying to include in my response but as new poster I was prevented from doing this.0

Oh yeah I realise that sorry, I was just wondering if anyone knew of a Scottish Power reason. Last time I actually checked my parents were in credit with them too!!!
The whole reason they're leaving them is because they are the worst company I have ever seen. Already been to the Ombudsman twice about them. They better not give me a third reason. Just unbelievable.0 -

In contrast, Bulb are probably the best.0 -
Sadly I've read some absolute horror stories today about this switch blocking. It's happened as many as 5 times to people, and Scots Power have had no idea why it keeps happening. Looks like it can be some kind of system glitch that has never been corrected.
Anyway, apologies for taking this thread off topic a bit. I will pursue tomorrow and start another thread if necessary.
In stark contrast, British Gas have caused no issue at all, already sent their "sorry your leaving" letter, and everything with the gas seems set to go.0 -
Decided to go ahead and start a switch today. The unit rates from Bulb's site are different to the rates on CEC. I guess this the price rise that was mentioned?
Electricity hasn't changed much, +3% more than it was before, but Gas has gone up an eye watering 30% (Way more than the 20% increase in wholesale costs the Bulb Blog mentions)
Provided it doesn't go up again before spring it could still be worth it once the referral is factored in, but I need to re-consider my options.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Octopus Flux0 -
I have been with them for a whole 8 days and they are now saying that my Direct Debit is too low by £18, they have come to this conclusion from the meter readings I have provided, strange that they only have an opening reading!
At least there is no exit fee so I can switch whenever I like.If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you!0 -

OK until November then it'll be time to do another comparison.
There are several companies cheaper for me at the moment if compared to the new rates but, like you, Bulb is cheaper for now.0
