Hmm could 3 know if I swapped SIM between phones?

Again probably a daft question....

I have a N6280 on contract. Jut phoned 3 to see what deals available on the N95 on upgrade to be told "none in stock" (Rubbish, it is available to buy as a new customer!).

If I bought the £28 talker option (with quidco and the £25 credit to account and ref a friend if I could manage that all!!) It would work out that the phone came pretty much free.

I want to keep my current number.

Could I get them to do a SIM only continuation of current contract and then pop that SIM in the N95 whilst giving DH the old phone+ new SIM?

THe £28 talker is too many mins really for me but seems the cheapest 3 option on N95, if I took the orange clearence £35 deal for 12/12 I would loose any benefit from continuing my 3 contract I guess as I'd have to leave the number with the 3 SIM (or can I port a number out from 3 and a different one into the contract for it to continue??)

Off to see what deals available on the high street today.

  • '3' won't care that you put your sim in another phone.

Generally they only moan if you put your sim in a 2-G enabled devive only (because they don't own the 2-g masts, it costs them to use them, so having a 2gonly phone is not ideal for them!)

Once you port out of your contract, it is terminated. You cannot port in another number to replace and continue the contract, nor can you request another number to continue it - as far as i know.

You can port your number from '3' to any other network yes. To port from '3' contract, to a different '3' contract, you will need to request a PAC code, transfer to PAYG on a diff. network. then request PAC from that network and provide it to '3' > this should work

    hope this helps

The real answer is they won't be bothered unless used in a non 3G handset.

Let me put your mind at rest, I am using my N95 that I got from O2 with my 3 simcard.

So far every phone I have got from 3 - I have not used it! HOWEVER the phone that I have instead used has ALWAYS been a 3G phone. Like someone said above they will 'clock on' if you use a non-3g phone.

Thanks all! Does this mean that O2 N95s are unlocked to any network?
