What's their problem with Paul McKenna and Shaky?

Their problem? It is the artist brand owner - Shakin Stevens brand owner gets the stuff removed. You can contact them and ask what stuff you can sell or seek permission. I don't know about McKenna But would imagine that's the same.

Have a read of this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Shakin-Stevens-Vero-Removals-/10000000178506599/g.html

The VERO list isn't uptodate as in it doesn't show every single subscriber, it only shows those who have made a page on eBay to explain why they are removing permission to use their company/brand name to sell. It is usually to protect the brand from counterfeits.

This is what worries me, with 2 VERO warnings on my account already with no idea how long they stay there, what if I list something that I shouldn't and get a third warning, is that my account restricted?

It wouldn't even occur to me to worry about a Shakin Stevens LP.

In the back of my mind I sort of knew about those embargoed countries but it is a trap I could easily fall into. In the past I've sold books and the occasional stamp and haven't checked the country list. Even now with a random assortment of antique items I could so easily trigger a warning by mentioning the wrong country- it is quite scary.

I'm beginning to think I am lucky to still have an account :(

I am switched off at the moment, I couldn't face any more stress, but spent yesterday listing a few odds and ends on etsy just so I have a presence somewhere else.

Those countries are UN blacklisted countries due to number of reasons and recently Ebay got into trouble for allowing listings of items looted from Syria - not to mention they are sold to finance a certain terror organization.

Quite, I would not want to in any way fund certain organisations but some of the countries just don't 'ring' for me. As someone who dabbles in the murky world of auctions there are a lot of things to watch out for, for instance, Ivory that dates after 1947 is illegal to trade anywhere- ebay of course ban it entirely which I approve of as I wouldn't ever want to trade Ivory.

Taxidermy is still a lucrative market, again absolutely not to my taste but certain animals and species are allowed and others are not. My son bought a huge spider which we checked and was OK (I hate the thing) but the auctioneer tried to give us a case of beetles with it for free- but I refused them as beetles are a nightmare as so many can't be traded (and a single spider was enough for me!).

Ebay ban bone which in most cases can be legally traded in the UK.

I do have a question though as I am getting a bit bogged down in the rule page and restrictions- does anyone know about feathers? I have some items that contain real bird feathers and am concerned about listing them as it appears some might be restricted.

Ah yes books- there are several Enid Blyton ones that you can no longer list- plus an Agatha Christie one if it is old enough to have the original title.

I have some taxidermy to list but have no idea what is allowed and what's not. Is there a list somewhere ?
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
  • I tried to sell The Sea once as a charity auction ('blue-green colour, has a wavy top that is a bit rough in places'). The listing was removed as, according to ebay, 'item does not exist'.
I can assure them it does because it's still there.
