Stop distorting what I said, which was that I don't care what people like you think, as a normal balanced person, I obviously would obviously listen to and consider what other normal people say.

I am pretty successful in my own right, My Mrs comes from a very wealthy family through hard work. The company I choose to be associated with include a Wall Street broker, a couple of businessmen who have built up there companies from nothing to employing a work force of around 100 between them. A footballer, a self employed plumber, a mortgage broker and a regional sales manager of the largest paper company in the world. In our own fields we have all done very well and own our homes (Not that matter much in the real world, a home is a home, but thought I would mention it as it seems relevant on here)

We all have one thing In common we all resent BTL landlords and their businesses. We also despise Estate agents and recruitment consultants to a certain extent. But you guys top the list!

surely they will all resent mortgage brokers too?
salesman are total parasites as they produce nothing productive.

do any of them have anything useful to say about how housing for people who don't own should be funded and organised?

  • Well im pretty normal and balanced I would like to think so is the company I spend time with.

You crack on with what you are doing and if your happy in life good for you.

But don't expect people to like your business and not resent you in a time where a young couple earning good money cannot buy their own property and subsequently are forced into renting off people like you to pay for your lifestyle.

    Lets leave it there Chuck!!

Through high skill and hard work she managed to be born into this family. If only those lazy people in Africa would do the same!

You mean a paper shuffling shyster middle man, taking a cut for doing nothing more than putting two and two together. I'm purposely generalising here of course, but I find it highly amusing that you're criticising BTLers while citing your friends include someone from a group of people responsible for libor rigging, ppp, fx rate scandals, front running, junk product construction, etc etc.
  • My mrs father came from nothing but through hard work and sacrifice became FD for a multi national company. Brilliant story actually and very inspirational. My Mrs works very hard also and does well for herself.

My wall street broker friend is the cleverest most impressive person I know. Lived on the same street as me as a kid, got a job at Deutche bank after graduating with 1st class honours is economics. A couple of years ago got headhunted by a broker on Wall street. He is living the dream with his lovely family in NYC. He deserved everything hes got.

You've done well there Henry. Not bad because it was only a few months ago you were panicking about not getting a mortgage because you'd missed three payments on your debts.

It must have been a terrible moral problem being bailed out by your Father in Law AKA Daddy Warbucks. Just how did you cope taking that money you hadn't worked for?

Why are you talking about what qualifications your friend has? I've also got a 1st class honours degree in quantity surveying and my wife has one in maths. She actually was a 'boat person' from Vietnam and was picked up by a British ship and brought to the UK when she was 10 years old, as you can probably imagine her family were very poor until she was financially successful. Her mother lives rent (and expense) free in one of her houses in Hackney, its worth about £1m.
