Of course I understand, you are jealous. When I first invested, people were posting the keys back through estate agents letter boxes, hardly anyone was buying back in 1991, but many were desperately trying to sell.

EDIT: Sorry to disappoint you, but there isn't much chance of 'it all crashing down on me'. Our mortgages are only 14% about LTV and we have enough other investments to pay off the mortgages anyway.

Not jealous at all. Just hate the whole BTL ethics for a whole heap of reasons.
I have met and worked with so many impressive people who have earned (Key word here) a shed load of money. I take my hat off to them.


As Ive said I hope it all comes crashing down.

The Wilson model would be closer to having 50,000 people all come together and spend one month each of their life building 1,000 homes. Instead of 50,000 people all part managing and maintaining 1,000 homes to get the rental return over the years they hire an asset manager (who himself put in about 15% of the hours worked) and agree that 49,999 people will rather like a nice headache free 25 year repayment of their labour at lower risk and the Wilson agrees to do the full management and take the first 15% of all losses.

As per the title people like you are the reason BTL landlords are resented so much.

Lets get something straight, landlords are only resented by trolls like you. Normal balanced people do not hate groups of people, they realise that not all landlords are the same.

BTL Landlords are resented by the majority of people I know and I am not a troll.
You must be in your own bubble as the general feeling amongst the general public and by the looks of things the government also is that people like you and your "business" (If you can call it that) is bad for the country.


Trust me you are resented and disliked and in some quarters hated by a great number of people.

Birds of a feather stick together, you just happen to know a lot of other trolls/jealous people, and misery does like company. Do you really think that I care what the likes of you think about me?

by and large stupid people resent lots of industries (gas, electricity, water, supermarkets, banks, local authorities, government, civil service, starbucks, amazon, phone companies and many more.
they resent them for a whole lot of vague unstructured reasons and largely have no credible alternatives.

personally I would prefer a higher level of home ownership but recognise we need a practical solution for the living arrangement of the million that don't own.

I am pretty successful in my own right, My Mrs comes from a very wealthy family through hard work. The company I choose to be associated with include a Wall Street broker, a couple of businessmen who have built up there companies from nothing to employing a work force of around 100 between them. A footballer, a self employed plumber, a mortgage broker and a regional sales manager of the largest paper company in the world. In our own fields we have all done very well and own our homes (Not that matter much in the real world, a home is a home, but thought I would mention it as it seems relevant on here)


We all have one thing In common we all resent BTL landlords and their businesses. We also despise Estate agents and recruitment consultants to a certain extent. But you guys top the list!
