Lovetotravel wrote: »This time in a week I'll be in Viva Las Vegas! I decided against driving to San Diego, so booked with Spirit airlines who are always super cheap.
Picking up a car at LAS on 20 August, returning to LAX on 21st at 0500 for only £27. Result!
We flew spirit fro m Vegas to San Diego on SaturdayThe only reason I wish we didn't, is because our 3 day mini excursion from Vegas,is a lot longer and we're still in San Diego
Two weeks before we travelled,my 8 year old came down with chickenpox and was fit to fly with days to spare. My stress levels were immense.Last Thursday, my 17 year old DS,had a couple of spots which we put down to the heat as its been sweltering and he does get heat spots. We flew to sandiego on Saturday and were meant to be back in Vegas Tuesday night. Monday morning it clearly was chickenpox my son had caught. I contacted my insurance who agreed to send a doctor out and he confirmed. We obviously couldn't fly back. I was in tears (not in front of son), as I had this trip planned since last September and imagined my Vegas days as you do,lol! Our flights with spirit obviously we couldn't take, but as they were non refundable, we just didn't turn up.
Well, would you believe, as luck would have it,the flight we were supposed to catch back to Vegas was delayed by 5 hours  So spirit sent everyone, including us,but no idea if they'll allow to redeem them,$50 each :T as the flights were $59 each way, I literally got my money back for flights I couldn't take anyway. For my insurance to help,I'm liable for the first 75.00 pounds each anyway,so I'd probably be better off booking using the vouchers.
The doctor is back out tomorrow and I'm hoping DS can be deemed fit to fly for Saturday, as having to pay for extra hotels, is not really in my budget(insurance are saying they will only assist if flights are missed in UK,and not in my situation as it stands) and I've still got Groupons to use. Plus my Vegas days were very limited as it was very hot and we were still jet lagged, lol! We need to get back to Vegas as all our stuff is still there as we rented a room at the signature for the whole of our stay.
I do feel for DS though as it was very unexpected. We came to Vegas on 24th July and are due to f!ly back to UK on Monday. I'm just hoping we can get back to Vegas,to make the flight back to UK now. Anything else will be a bonus.
We did have a fantastic time while we were there and had a Groupon or travelzoo or my Vegas dinner literally everyday, lol. The senior frogs yard glasses were lovely. The Vince Neil steaks not so. But I did enjoy the planet Hollywood buffet:T
For those going soon, have a wonderful time:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
OMG! I remember reading your chickenpox post, that sounds awful!!

Nope!!! Apparently, I can open a claim once I'm back in the UK,but they may only assist with flights,if I'm lucky! Yesterday they said they would assist over the phone. Myself and my two other kids went to mission beach, by the time we came back,I'd received an email they're not helping with that either. But, because I'd read the spirit one earlier, I wasn't too upset. This is with Columbus insurance. My policy stupidly, I left in vegas, so I'll need to go through it once I get to it. It seems what's throwing them all is the fact its an in between trip and not one that's departed directly from the UK. Its an annual policy,so if this really isn't covered, then I'll need to change it as soon as we return, as we always do this. I always used to focus on 10 million medical cover and missed departure, clearly,I need to scrutinise more!:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
