Carphone Warehouse Repair Service
Two weeks ago my iPhone + screen started to glitch, luckily (or not so!) 6 days before I had owned it for 12 months. I decided to take photo's of the phone and a video of the screen glitching. Took the phone to my local Carphone Warehouse store and was told they would send it away for repair as it is under guarantee. Two weeks later I check the progress and the phone had been received but no work done on it. I phoned the repair team, the device agent put me on hold for 20 minutes then came back and stated the "the phone had exterior damage to the casing and would be a chargeable repair". I obviously refuted this and stated I had date stamped photos of the phone and a video of the phone glitching and asked to speak to a manager. A few hours later a manager called me back. Again explained the situation. Once I said I had date stamped photos's and a video of the phone showing no external damage their attitude changed and the manager said "Oh, maybe we damaged the phone" and agreed a no fee repair!!! For the sake of a few photo's, this has saved me hundreds of pounds. Advice to all is if you need to send a phone off for repair, take date stamped photos and a video to cover yourself. The only thing I would do different is if taking back to a shop and they need to send the phone off, get the sales assistant to sign the repair form, no external damage seen!!

Would an apple shop just replace the iPhone there and then?
When my Samsung developed a fault, I took it back to Argos for a full refund. The phone was 6 months old.0 -
Took a S4 in for repair due to the known sim card error. They replaced the whole motherboard. It would have been cheaper to give me a new phone. Somewhere down the line there is a money making scam. The harder one works the luckier one gets!0

Yes, the OP must be one of the few iPhone owners in the country who didn't know that Apple will repair (usually just be replacing it while you wait) any iPhone under warranty.
A lot easier than having to deal with CPW...====0 -
Would have to advise against CPW repairs, their lemon handset policy became a lemon third party repair operation policy.
Always use your manufacturers approved repairer, because not all third party repair companies through networks and retailers are approved for all manufacturers and this can invalidate your manufacturer warranty.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
If you have Carphone's own phone insurance and the manufacturer replaces your handset, this invalidates the insurance policy. This is because the serial number or IMEI of the replacement phone now in your possession no longer matches the one that was purchased from CPW. Make sure the manufacturer provides a letter detailing both the old and new details and make sure that you inform Carphone as to this change as soon as possible.0
