ITV breaks watershed rules

  • We'll just have to agree to differ.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Well if you are happy with children hearing these details then that's up to you. I think they should be kept away from all these details until older. They grow up thinking this is normal. Just my opinion of course.

So you want the tv watershed to parent for you?

You control what your children watch on tv, not the broadcasters.

Can you imagine a pre watershed news bulletin on the recent Paris attacks with your logic? 'Over 100 people in Paris have died from injuries this evening. More at 9pm'

If you've got any children that are fans of Horrible Histories then they will have seen far more gruesome descriptions of deaths than mere cut throats! (Stupid Deaths, anyone?)

Rather than protecting kids (and failing, anyway) from explicit details, talk to them about it so they understand what's going on. Obviously you would use different language and go into different levels of detail at different ages. Kids who are actually too young to see this stuff aren't interested in watching the news anyway; or at least you can control what they see/don't see - unless you let them watch TV whenever and for how long they like of course.

Surely, if it were normal, it wouldn't be on the news.

    It's getting worse !!
The ad states "only suitable for over 18's"
Surely - it should be limited to post 9pm showing ?

That refers to one particular ad that was of a sexual nature.

You keep posting links but you don't appear to be reading them!

You're allowed to use milder swear words before 9pm like b*tch, but the harsher swear words like f*** have to be on later than 9pm.

Since when has b!tch been a swear word
    WWSD
    (what would Scooby Doo)

It all depends on the context it's used in.
A swear word is often a word that is used to cause offence and calling someone a !!!!! could easily fall into this category.

MSE obviously consider it to be a profanity hence it not being allowed on here.
