ITV breaks watershed rules

All the soaps are on before 9 and regularly have storylines about rapes and murders. Why is an advert for vaping worse than that?0

Having read the BCAP guidelines I can't see that e-cigarettes are subject to the 9pm watershed. They cannot be shown during children's programming, which The Chase is not. Do you have a reference that states otherwise?
Quoted to bring this back in focus, as it is a valid question.0 -
I noticed recently the word for a female dog was used when referring to a female character in coronation street.0

Too much bitching about swearwords, IMO.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0

I was looking for a more formal point of reference. Can you point out where the code of practice states they cannot be broadcast before the watershed? My reading of it would contradict your understanding.
Edit: Have you actually read your links? I'm guessing not ...The changes mean that rules on e-cigarette advertising have been harmonised across non-broadcast and broadcast media. There will be no 9pm watershed, reflecting changes in broadcasting and watching habits, but broadcasters will be expected to show they have behaved responsibly.0 -
I think the news should be as accurate and contain as much detail as they have to report.
In your example the person who was killed had his throat cut. The victim should have his cause of death to be reported accurately and not dumbed down due to concerns over the watershed.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

I'm not massively happy at the thought of a child watching a horrific news story. However news has to be accurate and real time to be "news". I would much rather not allow my children to watch the news at 6pm, as opposed to watching a dumbed down version of the news with no images or real descriptions of what has happened because we are pre watershed.
It would be farcical0
