I agree that it is terrible someone has stolen your caption. It is an unusual caption and has obviously been copied. I would definitely complain big time.

Should be a pretty easy thing to prove as well as the comments will be date ordered, I would personally try and screenshot yours and the winning one - with dates - and then email the Mirror to complain with the attachments

They do say the best caption selected by them, although they don't say if that is a random selection or not and they do not say anything about the caption needing to be original

If they were bothered it would be easy to add "original" to the terms or say if the same caption is submitted more than once the first one submitted will be the one eligible for a prize or just have people e-mail/submit an online form so no one can see the other captions before it is finished.

Oh I would be so peeved if this had happened to me as it clearly says the 'best'caption and so if you were first then you should win. I would contact them and explain that you were so disappointed to see 'your' earlier caption with another person as the winner and feel it is unfair.
