Ah, yes. Parked in a supermarket car park for 40hrs/wk will make a big difference - most people are parked there for an hour or two max per week, so in the same time period she'll get 20 dents, the average person will have 1/20th of the exposure, so the law of averages says they'll get one.

Is she parking near to the door, which is where the highest space-usage density is? Might be worth her parking in a far corner.

She parks as far away from the doors as possible. She doesn't struggle to walk the 100m or so to the staff entrance , she runs 40 miles a week too ! Her car was new , the first dent was a real angry moment , it is putting us off buying her new car tbh . There were 20 dents but a defect in the bonnet paintwork got rid of two of them when the bonnet was resprayed by BMW

Thanks for your input but where do you get the idea that they fine people for parking indiscretions ? The Disabled and P&C spaces are vastly under used, there is no parking enforcement at most Supermarkets.

I never said indescressions. I'm referring to parking in excess of two hours in managed car parks. If yours hasn't got anpr you're lucky but I bet it's on the way.

The supermarket is the only store I can go to on my own as they have mobility scooters available, I can't unload and assemble my own.
I use 2 branches of the same supermarket, one has PC right outside the door so I use them as the BB spaces are too far away and awkward for me use...Nobody has said anything to me personally but I have witnessed heated arguments between others and noticed the majority of the parents instigating the rows have 1 or 2 kids with them that appear to be between 7 and 10 and stood perfectly still on the path waiting patiently..... Should these parents be using them anyway?
When my 3 were younger I went shopping on a weekly basis with 3 toddlers, not one got lost or squished nor had a runaway trolley...
This country is full of entitlement and stress due to people sweating the small stuff.

Love to know where you park, all our supermarkets have parking enforcement in place, I actually fell foul of myself once as I forgot to take my BB and used a BB spaces....In addition BB and PC spaces on private and council land are always full.

A sweeping but in incorrect statement.

Amongst the many regularly mentioned in the parking tickets and fines forum are Sainsbury/Aldi/Morrisons/Asda/Tesco

Supermarket carparks do get abused, and give rich pickings for private enforcement companies who do issue charges for overstaying etc including for parking in a bay not intended for you (including parent with child)

Individual stores enforce their parking differently, depending on local conditions.

In our nearest city, the Morrisons has pay parking (ticket to refund the first two hours) with ANPR enforcement. It's directly opposite the station and near to the hospital.
Sainsburys has a guy in dayglo wandering around every now and then.
Tescos don't appear to have anything, despite being very handy for the city centre.
Waitrose are in a big new development shared with other stores, restaurants and cinema, with very tightly controlled (and expensive) parking near to the football club - again, refund of two hours in-store.

There are none where we live , apart from one. They are not near places that people would go to another shop or premises or to catch a bus/train to another destination. Those are the ones where parking is enforced . Many people believe they are entitled to use Supermarket car parks for free and grizzle about them the most , whether it be parking or anything to do with the way they run their business.

I've never seen pcn being issued on PC parked cars and the supermarkets in our area only have warnings on the BB spaces and pcn are rampant for the cars without BB displayed.

Just wondering for future reference, can they park in parent and child spaces if all the disabled ones are full?

    Yes. :)

Ignore the usual debaters about whether P&C child spaces should exist, never existed in my day, should be at the other end of the car-park etc. Any thread that mentions P&C spaces gets over-run by these comments.

In a private car park such as a supermarket, as said by somebody else, anybody can park in any space. There is just a moral issue and, as a parent myself, I would not complain at a blue badged car being parked in a P&C space.

We have a six year old, who has a Blue Badge. If we park in a disabled bay and they don't see the BB, do people mutter? If we park in a P&C bay and they do see the BB, do they mutter? And more importantly, do I care either way? No I heck as don't :rotfl:

    That's where I get I from. ;)
