Hope it is a lovely surprise.
I have dried up on my £2 coins, that said I haven't used coins for a while, everything has gone on my Credit Card, as then I wont have to pay till mid February.
I may have to make my £2 collection up to a round number if I don't get any before the end of the year, the £4 will make it a far nicer number. I may also change Christmas money into £2, will make a difference, I know its not really how this challenge works but I havent had change or used coins or notes for a while, I blame apple pay, I always have my phone on me and zap its done.....
I will keep going to see if any £2 crosses my palm, in the traditional way, just in case something happens in the next 10 days.

I think everyone in my area must have been clearing out their £2 collections, as I've had 3 of them in today's change! I'm hoping I've nothing more to spend out on this side of the New Year, so it's unlikely that I'll receive any more coins to count in 2016. They've all gone into a 'Pot of Dreams' so I won't be breaking into them for a few years, given the rate at which they have come in over the last year. But, it does mean I should be able to spend my savings on something quite special, as I think the pot holds around £800 in £2 coins!
I hope everyone has a fab Christmas and a prosperous New Year! xx£12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000

8 this week, have we got a list for 20170
-
Haven't updated for a few months - Had a hefty credit card bill to settle during the summer so had to raid both the £2 and £1 jars. Not been able to refill either very quickly as spending has had to be reigned in. If I don't spend, I don't get any change.
Now up to £188 (was £226).Her courage will change the world.

Broke open all of our tins - great fun counting it all.
The grand total for our two tins of £2 coins was £994:j:j:j Just three coins short of a grand and a lot more than the £448 I had counted up to. So basically we had already saved about half before we started keeping note of what was going in.
Quite a lot were ones that might be worth a bit more
1 x Pemember Guy fawkes
2 x Mary Rose
1 x Commonwealth but I can't quite make out if NI or England as the flag is a bit scratched - is there another way of telling the difference?
9 x Dickens
1 x Magna Carta in almost mint condition
2 x London Underground Train
2 x Robert Burns
3 x Darwin
2 x Girl guiding
and various more. So hopefully I will get round to posting some on ebay and see if they gain me a bit more for the pot.

Well done Scottishmummy.
The difference between NI and England commonwealth coins is that the NI one has a thicker band on the flag, and the English one is thin.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards.
