Also I'm using Windows Live Mail 2011 which according to the email is no longer supported and I will have to update to Windows 8/8.1/10 and use the Mail app. Or I could log in via outlook.com.
You prompted me to check. I could have sworn I had WLM 2012 on my W7 workstation but I'm surprised to find it's only 2011. If it's no longer supported I may have to update to 2012 anyway.... Thunderbird is simple to set up. You can download it and give it a go without getting rid of your current methods. You can run two email clients together without doing any damage.0

Maybe they are getting Outlook (1) mixed up with Outlook (2) or maybe perhaps Outlook (3)
I can't understand really why anyone would get confused.
1. Microsoft Office Outlook
2. Outlook.com that used to be hotmail.com and maybe live.com as well?
3. Outlook Express0 -
Seems like another good hard shove from Microsoft towards using Windows 10.
Which at the moment I am NOT going to use.0 -

Outlook is a service as well as an application, it is the renamed Hotmail.0 -
Having had a little search 'Google is your friend' I am a little confused. It is possible that the issue is that Microsoft is changing the servers that hotmail and outlook email addresses are based on, moving to 365 servers. Thus the email client won't look in the right place for the emails - But if this is the case all email clients would have the same issue not just Windows Live Mail.
The implication from the email is that upgrading from WLM 2011 to WLM 2012 is not an option and that an OS upgrade is needed. - That doesn't seem reasonable!!
Has anyone managed to upgrade from WLM 2011 to WLM 2012 on a Windows 7 machine? If so how did you do it?0 -

I read it differently ... that you can still use WLM 2012 so long as you download the Microsoft update KB3093594.
Regarding how to install WLM 2012 I'm a bit concerned that I won't lose all my WLM 2011 emails and contacts. All I've found so far is this old thread in which reference is made by one poster that he simply downloaded Live Essentials 2012, select Windows Live Mail 2012 and it installed over his existing WLM 2011 preserving all his essential data. I imagine you'd probably have to configure your choice of views though.

So the question is, will WLM 2012 be broken for ALL email or just Microsoft provided email? (unless you install patch http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49486 )
PS. Thanks for the heads-up
From the email it seems only Microsoft based accounts ...
"In a few weeks, we will be making some changes to our email services that might impact your @outlook.com, @hotmail, @live or @msn email account."
I certainly hope so as I don't have any of those.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
I am going to give it a go. I hate Outlook and have been happy with LiveMail 2011. Does Thunderbird handle multiple e-mails easily ? I assume it would.
The addon customisation is endless and I would recommend it over Live mail anyway. As I said before it's easy to just give it a go. If you don't like it, just uninstall.....Drinking Rum before 10am makes you
