    I am unaware of any language that is "appalling" at all (well, except perhaps a particular racist word used in an abusive context - that might well appall me if I were to encounter someone shouting that nastily at someone in public but I've never had that situation happen so have never been appalled) - there's nothing that has ever "appalled" me, not appalled me, made me extremely extremely uncomfortable on occasions yes, or hit me with absolute force, but never made me feel "appalled". It's like "dismay" - I don't find anything dismaying or regrettable (unless, in the case of the latter, I've said it myself). You know what? - I'm a prude in certain circumstances too.

    And, that coming from you as well - that's a surprise as you're one of the rudest people on here!:rotfl: (I don't mean "rude" in any bad sense.)

    I think the idea is that, if you don't like Game of Thrones or it becomes too much for you, switch it off! Some of us feel the opposite - that the more "extreme" something gets, the more over-the-top it becomes and actually, for us (possibly a minority? -but then we're all in a minority group of our own at some point), the "better" it is as the more funny it becomes, although I guess that is a male thing (and research from another country in the 1980s seems to show that).

    I might start watching Game of Thrones now:rotfl:. Definitely if it is "appalling"! See if I'm appalled:rotfl:. (Don't think I will be!)

    I know I find things unnecessary in certain circumstances (and really annoyed by them, even years later - I know, I shouldn't let it get to me but it sometimes does and depending on how often and repeated it's happened) - but I think, if someone thinks something is "unnecessary", I think it is absolutely, completely essential and necessary if only to make it completely impossible for others to continue watching what they find unnecessary and, maybe, "offensive". Do you use a mobile phone? Well, that's unnecessary. We could all use landlines. What about a settee or sofa? That's unnecessary too - we could sit down on chairs (with nice padded covers on them) instead. It's not essential or necessary to use a sofa. But it is nice. And, sometimes, things aren't "necessary" but they just are anyway. Why does something have to be "necessary"? And why, if something is "unnecessary", is it wrong? Sometimes things aren't "necessary" - they may just be superfluous. Neither your post nor mine are "necessary" in the context of money-saving thread. However, they just are.

    As for "rudeness" through language, that is a total society creation and completely subjective. And sometimes things that are, supposedly, "rude", or may be considered "rude" or others may think are "rude", are far funnier precisely because they are (allegedly) "rude". I'm a man:doh:!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Savvy, you need to watch it. The story line is good, if not a little morbid. But there are bums, boobs and lady/man bits all over the place, and I have never heard the C word so much in my life! I am a prude... but an addicted prude!!!

    For those who have watched it.... Rob has just been killed! :(

    When people are wombling £2k+ a year and sometimes £6/700 a month it shows that in general terms the uptake isn't that high. People are more likely to use a coupon sent to them than one they have to generate themselves, IMO.

    But I think that perhaps proves how ineffective the promotion is in reaching its target. Yes I agree......the cost of the promotion may be low but is it working?
