mhoc you know when you cook pasta bake? may seem like a silly question but i have never made one as hubby dont eat pasta :( do you cook pasta first?

I don't but I do soften the pasta in a pan of boiling water first.

    I boil the kettle
measure the pasta out and put into a pan - a bowl will do
add boiling water and just let it sit there while I get on with the rest

chop the peppers, courgette, onions etc up, depends what is in the fridge and how wrinkly or furry.

chicken breasts - I've been getting the frozen premium ones from Aldi. Ideally I like to cut it into small cubes when its still partly frozen as its easier to cut

then I put oil into the wok until its very hot and put the chicken cubes in and brown the outsides.

I put these onto kitchen paper to drain off

I've got a square pyrex dish and in there goes the chopped veggies, drained pasta which is now soft, the drained chicken and then whatever herbs - I like to put dried sage and thyme in and some garlic salt.

then I add whatever pasta sauce jar I have, at the moment its the Lloyd grossman ones but the Barilla ones would also good - mix everything up and put in a pre heated oven about 160

I then clear up the kitchen and grate cheese.

I sprinkle cheese around the edges as I like cheesy crunchy pasta bits.

we also have the forcacchio slices from Aldi and again I put lumps of mozzarella and/or cheese and garlic salt on the top - this sits on a flat tray at the bottom of the oven as it only needs 10 mins, carefully not to burn and I then cut it into squares

warm the bowls in the top oven and that's it - looks very impressive for not much work

Please can I ask can I freeze peppers?

In mr !!!!!! this mornin in the reduced veg section I found 3 yellow peppers for 15p each - a few wrinkles.
I did pasta bake last night so I can't do it again tonight without raising suspicions :)
That had a wrinkled red pepper in

Yes but better if you chop them into strips first.

I am thinking that I must done numerous pasta bakes when the kids were little - with having 2 lads dinners always had to be substantial - pasta bake, pheasant chicken, stews and casseroles etc

but now we have an empty nest its like I've had to learn to cook all over again and OH objects to any new addition to his menus - he is strictly a lump of meat and peas eater
