Thanks ordered Job done
If your Oh does get seriously into doing home brew then it would be worth checking places like Freecycle as often you see people disposing of extra home brew equipment“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. I did think that the one i got him is an easy one for starters as its his 1st time. He is obviously looking for ways to save money with a baby coming. He lives in London and they use FreeCycle and Gum Tree a lot.0 -
Real Christmas trees - has anyone got any advice where to look please. I am possibly thinking of one on a pot I can stand outside afterwards and then drag back indoors each year.
Don't tell me about the B&Q £1 trees from last year - I am never in the right place when these things
I was thinking about the ikea £25 ones but I don't know how long you get to use your £20 voucher in January? Ikea warrington is a bit if a long drive for us and it would mean getting Oh away from work twice which I do t think will happen
Hi mhoc, if you are around Shifnal/Wolverhampton, we got a gorgeous 6 foot+ tree with roots for £20, there are trees upto 14 feet for the same price! Worth the 45 min drive for us. Ikea Wednesbury sold out a few weeks ago according to a friend0 -
Just seen the MSE headline that 51% of people want to cancel Christmas and I can sympathise, it's hanging over my head like a black cloud
I reckon I now have 13 days left to organise this Christmas extravaganza as eldest child is here late on the 23rd so I have to be ready before then.
So I need at least a day to tackle the wrapping, I have enough bits got now to make the Christmas goody bags look full enough
A day to sort the tree out
2 or 3 days to do menu planning and tackle various shopping lists - cashback items, mycoupons items, Amex local £10 shops and we also have a Christmas soup volunteer and a lemon cheesecake volunteer so they will need specific items for their receipes.
So that leaves a week of house scrubbing
If I am very lucky I will have visitors for maybe 4 days - either side of Christmas
Also worrying now about setting my expectations too high but finding that my offspring find home a sad disappointment and making their escapes as soon as possible.
Youngest son is coming back from Hong Kong on Boxing Day, no idea for how long for but a wet miserable grey Uk is not going to impress him for long
Eldest son and his GF are away now on their long planned adventure to Japan, due back the week before Christmas so they are going to be suffering post holiday blues
Eldest child and her BF are off for an entire 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year, longest they have been away from work ever (apart from the us trip) so by January they will be missing the glamour of London
They are going up north firstly to his parents the weekend before, then they have their pre Christmas night away in a posh hotel before going back to the in laws. Eldest child is home 23 to 27 before going back up north to the in laws (bf stays with his parents over Christmas and eldest child come here, complicated story)
So all of them will be home for Christmas but wishing they were elsewhere“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Excellent, so at least I have a ball park price to work around.
£20 is a good figure.
We get into Stafford every couple of weeks so going a bit further is no problem but I am now thinking of what other nurseries and garden centres etc are between here and there, need to get OH away from work to do a road trip“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Its a very good hobby to get into.
I recently found something called Streetlife - well worth them joining. It connects you with people in your own specific area and it gives you vast amounts of local knowledge
I joined about a month back and you get an email every morning as to the latest posts. Recent discussions have included someone with an elderly neighbour with a mal functioning TV and between the group he was sorted out with a TV, a set top box and someone to set it up and tune it in. Also the usual For Sale and giveaway sections, lost cats, issues regarding planning applications, sightings of suspicious vans in the area, requests for shops that do drapery alterations, requests for contact details from someone wanting to contact our MP, announcements about book clubs and sewing clubs, problems with wi fi etc.
Might be a good place for bartering if he really gets into doing home brew - eg 6 bottles of beer for a couple of hours of baby sitting :T“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove.
