We've been together nearly seven years but only married 7 months. However we do appreciate our time apart from each other. I love it when he goes off on his 50 mile bike rides :rotfl:

Mr GG has been averaging 20,000 steps a day since January so I've had time to myself. They've not been in a straight line though or he'd be in Portugal with Tilly by now :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Had a reasonable weekend, lots of cutting, trimming and sewing

Also visited niece to collect my Av*n, which not having used a lot before am quite impressed with it. She did lunch which was great as last I didn't cook it was a bbq at her house a couple of springs ago

Av*n did get me thinking though, not about makeup but about what I spend money on..............not difficult everything gets me thinking about what I spend and why :rotfl:

If you take makeup I have loads of old stuff (good makes, expensive makes) and to be honest they need throwing out (they about 10 years old :eek:) trouble is you look at it and think cr*p that eyeshadow was £15 and if I used it once a week it would take me till I am 80 to finish it...............was it worth it.

I know it's only £15 but you add that to all the body lotions, potions and other eyeshadows/nail polishes/lipsticks and you think noooooooo can't chuck it, so you end up with this pile of stuff that you know you can't put on your face or body and it adds up.............bare with me I am going somewhere, honest.........................anyhow don't get me wrong I am not one for buying the latest colour or the latest fibre filled make my lashes like betty boo type but I have my steady browns n greys that I use and the rest is just bag filler, or polyfilla as OH refers to it.

So it got me thinking, why oh why do I buy it in the first place.....................media???, not really. I think it's because it's what I think I should have not what I need or want.

That led me on to what do I need, then that led me onto the golden question What do I want to spend my money on and what do I don't want to spend it on

A simple question but a golden one, if you take makeup, I have to have it (I look old if I don't) but I'm not really bothered about spending lots on it, I thought I loved Ch*n*l, Di*r and Est** L*uder but in truth Av*n is just as good...........That's £15-£20 as opposed to £3!!!!

What do I want to spend my money on and what do I don't want to spend it on..........................it's not makeup then.

What's important to me, not shoes either, I am heavy footed and would ruin a pair of J*mmy Ch**'s in a day, so I don't buy them.

 Then I realised that I should apply J*mmy Ch**'s to all aspects of my spending, so this week I will be trying to figure out what I really really want to spend my money on and what I don't want to spend my money on

What, to me is valuable and what isn't :D

When I bought my property, I moved out of my flat and into my mums until the work was carried out,

And I was amazed with how little I actually needed, moisturiser, body lotion, deodorant, foundation, blusher, eye shadow x 2 mascara, and lipstick, pair of tweezers and scissors.

For my wardrobe I had my uniform for day time wear  and then changed to a pair of denims x 2 and top/t shirts x 6, at night for going out I had 2 pairs of dress trousers and 4 "gong out" tops. 2 Handbags and choice of 2 x shoes or boots, better mention u/wear as well:o

Now, is a different story - 4 wardrobes full and 2 shelves full of shoes/boots/sandals and 2 shelves full of every imaginable shades/style of handbags.

I actually hanker after the simple life, too much choice (clutter) is not good for anyone, so having a good old clear out makes me happy.

Although I watched the "Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners" programme last night and saw something quite sad - where the mum clears out all her daughters, aged about 3 yrs, teddys/soft toys into a black bag every 2 weeks, and puts them in the garage and if she doesn't ask for them within 2 weeks, she puts them all to the CS. Thought this was really sad, and would hate to go to these lengths.

    Thanks mrsp

That is really sad Frayed that poor child

Knowing what is important, be it handbags, shoes, makeup, books, collectible ornaments that is the key, although all the other stuff maybe a necessity, it can be found quite cheaply if you look hard enough.

Take cars, they get me from A to B and back again. I won't be saving for a plush model or drooling over the latest tech gadget.

I will use my money wisely, scrimp on the items that I don't "value" and spend on those that I do.

    My list so far is
    Scrimp
    Makeup
    Shoes
    Cars
    Toiletries

    Spend
    Jackets
    Handbags

As for clothes I think that instead of buying ad hoc I will plan, at the turn of the seasons, spring and autumn, I will buy just a few key work essentials :D, a bit more control :T
