Don't think it was mentioned in my original document, (haven't got it anymore), the 10yrs was stated in the Oct. 2015 letter advising me my DLA was ending and to apply for pip.

So yet again - DWP are making up the rules as they go along ?
Just "ADVISING" you to apply for PIP doesn't mean anything - what would have happened if you had ignored the letter ?

They are not making up rules as they go along, DLA lifetime awards became time limited some time ago. If you are invited to apply for PIP and choose not to your DLA claim will end, the letter does state that your DLA claim is due to end.

Of course, if you have such strong objections, you are free to end your claim at any time.

The original paperwork that was received on acceptance of DLA does not mention any end date of 10years or anything else - so DWP are making up the rules as they go along.. otherwise why are they changing the rules ?

End dates on any DLA/PIP award mean absolutely nothing. It is written in legislation claimants can be reassessed at anytime.

I was a PIP claimant in November 2013 (never having claimed DLA) and got an award for 3 years - I had an extremely difficult time with the ATOS assessment assessor and after it.

I have just had a reassessment well over a year in advance of my PIP 'end' date and its ok for DWP to do that at considerable cost to the government coffers.

can you give a link stating when DLA awards became time limited?

my award was increased in october 2013 and was told over the phone by a decision maker ( not a call centre advisor) that it was an indefinite award and that i wouldn't be 'bothered' again until my transfer to PIP.
i have been receiving DLA for 20 years next month

It doesn't exist - any change to T&C would be wrong - it only affects those already transferred to PiP.

Here is DWP's response to my query on whether I would be assessed with or without my (extremely uncomfortable aid) - which I can wear for only a few minutes per day without it causing sores on my leg !!

    In reply to your question:-
Any aids used would need to be used in the assessment. The assessor would not allow them to see whether they can walk while taking the aid away.
I hope this information helps you. If you decide that you would like to proceed and make a claim to PIP please send me your details as requested below and we would be able to send a word document that you could use to start your PIP claim off.

Which worries me a lot - if the assessor is not allowed to see whether I can walk without the aid !!

Further update from same person in DWP :
"I am sorry that information was unclear. The assessor will take the aid away to see whether you can walk without it.

My team has not been asked for this information before and I have had to ask someone. I am sure they wouldn’t ask you to do anything that could cause problems."

    This looks much better....
It is now a question of should I jump the gun and ask for a PIP transfer ?

No end date or lifetime award stated. I was invited to apply for PIP Oct. 2015 DLA first awarded Feb. 2005, letter stated You are being invited to apply for PIP as you have been on DLA for 10yrs, which is the maximum time allowed. Sent form back beginning of Nov. and have heard nothing to date.

There is NO - DWP rule that states a maximum time for anyone on DLA to be called for PIP transition - so don't know why or what happened in your case ...
You will be called in normal time.
