To THEM the aid isn't relevant! Therefore, yes, they do lump everyone together as you suggest. All they are interested in is what you can and cannot do!
With or without an aid...... if you cannot walk 20 metres repeatedly and/or at a reasonable walking pace you will get mobility.Almost everybody is called for an assessment with PIP. When you are called for assessment ask for a home visit. They won't offer and will try and fob you off but stick to your guns.In your own home you can show the difficulties in everyday living from, eg putting shopping away to housework to bathing. It has a lot more clout to actually SHOW these difficulties rather than just explaining them in an office.

Thanks - I had a home visit and assessment, 10 years ago (when I originally applied for DLA) - The results were one big joke - I was assessed (surprisingly) as being entitled to max Care and max Mobility - this was paif for 2 months - then I received a letter from DWP informing me that I was not entitled to any DLA - and I owed them over £500 in overpaid claims. I appealed (through my MP) - was reassessed at a centre (50 miles away) where the Doctor was not expecting me to turn up - and I ended up with mid rate Care - my mobility has deteriorated, considerably in the intervening years - so I am unsure what to do - should I wait until called for reassessment for PIP or apply now for a reassessment ?
  • If you are on highest mobility DLA then I would wait until you are reassessed for PIP.Your DLA will be paid until the changeover to PIP.If, however you are on lower mobility rate for DLA then you may feel it is worth going for PIP.You may be better off, you may not. Then again, nothing may change.Only you can decide if it is worth the stress! *New Rules* The DWP are trying to change the goalposts. If the DWP think you are getting your points solely by having aids, then they want to stop the points given by having aids! (Don't panic, it hasn't happened yet, but bear in mind it might)

Thanks - At the moment - I am not on Mobility at all - just mid care - things have changed in the 10 years that I have been on DLA !!
It could be another 2 years before PIP reaches me...

I am in an area where PIP could take another 2yrs, but, I was invited to apply for PIP end of Oct. I read this was because I had been on DLA for 10yrs. So you might find you will be invited sooner than that.

In some ways - I hope that you are right and I do get an invite - at least it will get rid of of some uncertainty.
Have you had the assessment yet ?

No, took them a week to send me the forms, which I sent back on 12th Nov. Dreading it all, as am due ESA review this month, get so stressed out and upset over it all. Wrong time of year, wish they could leave people alone around Xmas :( to enjoy it. Unlike most people dreading the brown envelope, mine are always sent in white, which most other Companies use as well, so most days my heart skips a beat, picking up the mail

They have moved the goalposts - again - this time to an unknown extent !!

Your DLA ends after September 2017 or your DLA award has no end date

You can be contacted any time after 13 July 2015 to claim PIP. This includes if you have a long-term award of DLA or an indefinite award with no end date.
Not everyone will be contacted to claim PIP right away. You’ll continue to get DLA until DWP writes to you about when it will end.

Were you on a lifetime award of DLA (ie no end date) ?

No end date or lifetime award stated. I was invited to apply for PIP Oct. 2015 DLA first awarded Feb. 2005, letter stated You are being invited to apply for PIP as you have been on DLA for 10yrs, which is the maximum time allowed. Sent form back beginning of Nov. and have heard nothing to date.

Where was the 10year mentioned in my original acceptance docs ?
