Renal Scenic.
The French do not produce the bestest of cars unlike the Germans and Japanese.
Never buy a sh*trun (citroen) and Renal (renault).
BMW, HONDA, Toyota, Mercedes, Volkswagon, Audi.
Oh yes, and Yugo.0 -
Hi, I had similar problems after buying a car which failed after the 24month warranty. Renault and there customer service team were hopeless. Everyone I have come across have all had engine problems and after 3 years of having the car. I vowed never to buy a car of them again. I paid £8000 and then a year later I then paid £3500 for cam belt and then some other engine problems and the labour costs was the nightmare. The dealership did give me a discount and I created a stink for buying a used car and having problems in the 13month! Talk to the dealership and then talk to Renault c/service team.
Good luck.Nice to save.0 -
A cam belt costs around £15-£20 , the fitting will be anywhere from £50-£150 on top.
So a saving on the parts itself is rather poor.
It is, but it is all that the OP is entitled to. Anything extra would be a goodwill gesture.Gone ... or have I?0 -

If the cam belt has snapped, op will doubtless need about £500 worth of parts.
So the offer from renault to stump up 60% does not seem too bad given that it's a 4 year old car.The money, Dave...0 -

I've had my Grand Scenic for coming up to 4 years now, bought from new. I have never had a more frustrating time with any car in my 30 years of driving. I have up till now had 2 electric window problems which happend " just " after my warranty ran out but happy to say Renault covered the cost as a good will gesture. Six weeks after my 36,000 mile service there was a squeeking, rubbing noise coming from a belt, which was a normal engine noise I was told. Next my display panel complely gave up the ghost. I complained to Renault about this " major " problem to which I was told they dont regard it as major " yeah ? " The however did cover 75% of the cost after much arguing. Then I got an emissions check warning light come on apparently cam shaft sensor problem I am told by the AA guy who had to come out and rescue me. The AA guy ran a diagnostic on my car to confirm this and also cleared the warning message and told me to get the car to a Renault garage asap and to my horror then told me they would charge me around £70 to clear that message even though he has already done this. Renault is now the worst word in my dictionary .... Grrrr ... Beware potential Renault buyers0

I was driving along today when my mirror began to wobble and then as I turned a corner it dropped from the windscreen and I had to pull in. On looking at the mirror I discovered it is stuck to the windscreen by a metal plate - the design of this does not seem to be very good for the weight of the mirror. Has anyone else suffered from this? The garage are saying they have never heard of this before - the car is only 2 years old and under warranty but they are not sure it is covered.0

Renault recently lost a court case in France about this vary thing. You could keep argueing but unless you've got the dosh to take them court I think your gonna struggle. how bad was the damage my dads recently went that cost him £700 but he had done 80k ignored the advice to change. But i would agree that its not unreasonable for you ask for the full cost of repair but thats just my perosnal opinon.0
