What is the weirdest thing you have found when you moved into your flat/house?

  • When we moved in the sink was a bit wobbly, boyfriend went to fix it and pulled out a load of clothes (including bras) that had been stuffed into where the sink/base stand joins to keep it stable. That was kind of an indicator/omen of the whole house really, the guy before us was a bit of a bodge job specialist...

We bought a repossession to do up a few years ago. They were a bit of a hoarding family, shall we say? The attic was filled with boxes filled with empty beer bottles with fag ends in. Empty chocolate selection boxes. Every bit of old furniture was broken up and put in the attic. The strangest thing was old Airfix model boxes, with the plastic frames that held the model parts left in the box but minus the actual parts!
  • Not in a house but I bought a boat 10 years ago and was left
    Chemical toilet (full)
Frying pan complete with congealed fat
    Set of false teeth
and a jar of ahem 'herbs'
I also later found that the boat had been sunk and pumped out by the fire brigade then re floated this came to light when I noticed the floor squelch underfoot!

  • When we moved into one house, we found nine - yes, nine, bikini's in the back of the airing cupboard! Even back in the days when I could conceivably wear a bikini.....I only ever had two, possibly three at once, but nine........??
  • When my son and I were re-furbing a house in Hamilton Terrace .London For a rather swish interior design company, we found a large box of battery operated sex toys. The previous owner was a director of a leading bank so we returned the items to his office by Courier. I presume his secretary obtained the items on his behalf but I wish I could have heard the conversation.
