The Mortgage Free in Three - Take 4 challenge (MFiT-T4)

Just updated for the quarter. I've not updated each quarter but have found the challenge really helpful to keep me focussed on my slightly unrealistic target
I've still got a chunk to pay off so would love to join if there's a T5

I haven't joined one of these challenges before, normally stick with the yearly ones. I would like my mortgage paid off by the time my son reaches 18. That leaves me six years so two of these challenges would really help.Without overpayments: 15 years, 1 monthsBecause of overpayments: 10 years, 10 months left until paid off0

Just updated for chart 11....can't quite believe the next will be the end of the challenge.
We certainly would not be where we are today without the help of these boards. We'll have managed to pay over £10000 more than our original target in this challenge :T
Thanks Trix!

Have updated for chart 11.
May have to join T5 for a short spell, pretty much winging it here atm, I have no idea how things will turn out.
This challenge has certainly kept me focused, along with my knotty noughts,
so for that - I thank you all.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
Balances checked and penultimate chart update submitted... We are painfully close to our target, £43.17 short!
We were £2k ahead up until about three weeks ago - the collapse in S&S values has put us firmly in reverse gear!0 -
Just submitted my update. Things are rapidly changing in my household and I am unsure if I will OP much more before the end of the challenge. Luckily I have already made my target once. I will do my best though.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1530/£2700

Thanks for all the updates folks. Don't you just love IT problems (currently going between a 9+ year old laptop and my phone thanks to my usual laptop turning turtle, good job the old one still functions, do will never die lol) but got there in the end
Chart 11 is here! Where has the challenge gone let alone this year?!
I'm letting the side down a tad but I'm trying to be very mse and minimise outgoings while I'm not earning so not doing too bad and a small light is on the horizon of potential earning. I'll definitely be here for T5 as I need to get the mortgage down as much as I possibly can, it's currently tantalisingly close to being below £100k & the next 6 months will see some movement of monies from savings to overpay as things mature, no point keeping it all there for a rainy day if it's not earning me more than the mortgage is costing.- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
- Student Loan gone
Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps0 -

Thanks for keeping it updated trix. A change of plans a few months ago have made my repayments figures drop off a cliff edge, when I decided to stop procrastinating and and get a few home improvements done that I've been putting off for years.:o For once in my life I don't want to risk cutting corners, and the best way for me to do that is have way more saved than I need.
While the mortgage has 'suffered', the savings have done extremely well, with the balance far exceeding my missed mortgage OPs, so I could in theory still clear it.
Next year once the work is done I may just pile everything into the mortgage and clear it, but with the payments & interest being so low now, I'm thinking of increasing the pension payments in hope of getting a better return.
My original target in the days when I attempted a diary was 2020, so I'm still doing quite well anyway.:)0 -
:xmastree:Merry Christmas to all :rudolf:
It's hard to believe there is just over a month to the end of this challenge, 3 years have gone by
I don't know if I will reach my target of $50k. Since we last updated we've had an awful lot of outgoings and unexpected surprises, but I will do my bestest :rotfl: to achieve it
Can't wait for the next challenge to start, thank you trix-a-belle for running this challenge :TMFiT-T7 #17 (Jan 2025) £193k (Apr) £177k (July) £159k (Oct) £
