When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym . :D

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :j

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

Morning all

I thought I would start the thread this morning as I am wide awake !!:j

I hope everyone is well and ready for the week ahead :D:D

Today I have/will:
  • breakfast, snacks and dinner from stores
  • Christmas lunch at lunch time
  • free coffee at work this morning - loyalty card
  • checked investment & re-invsted
  • updated sig with updated values
  • checked online banking - no change so all as expected
  • drive at 50 mph on the way to work - need to get my mpg up ! it doesn't help that i sit in roadworks every single day (we are getting a hamburger roundabout......I've not idea whether the townsfolk will cope - they can't use a normal roundabout most of the time)
  • I need to make a list of top priorities today at work - busy, busy, busy
  • i need to sign up for some store visits for tomorrow - nothing like last minute planning !!
  • when i get home i need to get the sewing machine out.....i have loads of denim squares to use up - any ideas what i could use them for ??? if any one wants some, please pm me and i will send you some
  • aiming for a NSD
  • need to write my Christmas cards - need to get them in the post
  • charging phone via PC/TV (no extra cost)
  • read papers online

I think that is enough for me.....have a great day everyone

Candy xx

    Thanks for the start Candy.
Think it's a case of 'stay well back' today - I've officially got manflu and I feel dreadful._pale_:silenced:
Probably not well enough for work in all honesty. But any of you who know anything about teaching as a job will know that even if you are close to death then you should try to get in to work because the consequences of a day off don't bear thinking about... Today may be just a poster making day all in all but I can at least keep an eye on my belongings. :)
    Today's list:
    _pale_ check banking and PAD
    _pale_ full teaching day
_pale_ try and mark a set of books
    _pale_ early night
_pale_ contact my friend about how poorly I feel - may have to give tonight's training a miss
_pale_ try not to get stressed out
_pale_ leave a list of jobs for dh
_pale_ just be kind to myself while I'm feeling rubbish
Have a good day all :j

    Morning Campers,
    Today I will:
*Hang laundry on airer ready to switch on overnight & set washer on timer so as to maximise cheap tariff.
*Sort out nice bag of random gifts from Mum.
*Cook chestnuts, chop & freeze ready to make stuffing.
    *Enter competition.
*Upload video to brand survey forum I'm currently on & hope it will earn me a voucher.
*Excavate freezer for a pepper I know is in there for making red lentil chilli for dinner.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Cast on 2nd hiking sock I'm making for mr f. Am behind with this. As I still have Dad's jumper to finish, knitting needs to be a priority for today. I will catch up on other jobs tomorrow.
Have a good start to the week, everyone. If it goes t*ts up, don't worry, just start your week again tomorrow. Starting on Monday is over-rated. Ok, time to get cracking.

P.S - CCL Hope your cold doesn't get you down too much today. Try to have a mug of hot water, honey & juice of half a lemon, pinch of cinnamon & a slice of root ginger as soon as you get in tonight, plus a couple of paracetamol if you are achey x

    Today I will:

Purchase some Christmas presents with plenty of research to make sure no last minute spend.
I will answer some surveys in a couple of new websites I signed up for, working towards some extra £.
Have coffee at work after lunch instead of Costa around the corner.
Think about a dish I can cook with what I have in instead of buying some more stuff and then end up throwing half away.

    Morning all :)
Thanks for the start Candy :)
Sorry to hear you feel rotten CCL :( Hope you are better soon. There are some nasty bugs around at the moment.

    List for today:
    Check banks
    Dog walks x 2
Finish shopping list and decide whether to go today or tomorrow
Write Christmas cards :( (am I the only one who finds this a bore?) Never mind, I have cards bought reduced last January, and free stamps from the Postal Survey, so at least no spending is involved!
    Wrap final 2 presents
Sort out the annual donation to the local food bank which OH and I do instead of buying each other Christmas presents :)
    HM meals :)
    Housework :(
Check FPL, do any surveys that are available
Hmm I am sure there is more, but I can't think of anything at the moment. I will be back later to update.

Hope everyone has a good day :)

Today I will make a start on wrapping some of the kid's Christmas presents. The husband bought some wrapping paper last week that I really don't like and doesn't look at all Christmassy. I'm fighting every urge in my bone to go out and buy some more but the more sensible side of me realises that my five year old son isn't really going to care what paper his gifts are wrapped in.

I'm also going to resist putting the heating on. It is quite mild so hopefully an extra layer should do the trick. Just because we got a £20 loyalty voucher for our gas doesn't mean I can put it on all day every day.

Search the stores for lunch and dinner. I really don't think I've got anything but am going to have a proper look before sending the husband to the supermarket.

Answer some surveys and enter some competitions. I find them rather boring but I guess once I get into the habit it should become pretty much second nature.

I'm going to start buying multi packs of chocolate bars as I end up spending 60-odd pence a day. When did chocolate bars become so expensive?! Seriously, I swear they were only 30p when I was a kid.

Morning guys and thanks for the start Candy!

Nice to see the thread so busy so early on in the day.

So my small plans for the day:

    * sort out student loan form and post back (if I can get the details from my employer today)
    * call Southern Electric about the transfer of our BB
    * all meals from stores
    * [STRIKE]get a slice of cake out of the freezer for dgd for lunch[/STRIKE]
    * home activities with dgd today & possibly a walk to the park. Was considering taking her out to a play group but figured she's going to CM's tomorrow and will get to play with all her friends and do some activities so might as well conserve our resources!
    * text dd & remind her to pay in the £25 I lent her yesterday
    * [STRIKE]check banking & pay cc - must do this in a minute[/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE] load of washing[/STRIKE] & hang up. Might even be able to put it outside for a bit
    * paint skirting boards in our bedroom
    * try to work out where the leak in our bathroom is coming from
    * think I will put dgd in her buggy and go for a walk this afternoon/evening. Might go for a walk around the village and look at the christmas house decs

Ok think that's all I need to do today. Have a great day everyone x
