Tobis Dartford maybe another one its on the outskirts of London and near the masstive shopping complex bluewater park. Takes about 35 mins to get into central London. And rent rates are approx 600 a month for a 3 bed a travel card all zones is approx £55 a week.0

Thanks in advance0 -
anyone have any idea on Morden and Raynes Park? I have been looking there and it looks very promising.
Thanks in advance0 -
Ealing has some fab pubs! There used to be a comedy club but am not sure if it's still there...think it is. Quite a few nice cafes for day time coffee drinking, and lots of good but not too expensive restaurants including spanish, Japanese, Italian. Good library which is right in the centre of the shopping area, which is also near the tube/train. There's a Waitrose in the shopping centre. If you drive it's easy to get to the A40/M40, the A4/M4 and the North Circular Road is on your doorstep. Convenient for Heathrow. Thames Valley University is close by if you fancy doing a course of some sort. There are nice parks. Farmer's market nearby. Southall is just up the road for truly authentic Indian food.
I like Ealing & wish I hadn't moved away!
Can't tell you anything about Morden or Raynes Park...except some friends lived in Raynes Park - they liked it, never had any trouble etc and only moved because the value of their property shot up and the moved to a bigger place. There was nothing wrong with the area to make them want to move.0 -
I think the thing about London is that, generally, you'll get a nice area right next to a less-nice area, almost wherever you end up living. Loads of the places mentioned - hammersmith, shepherds bush, clapham, battersea, Oval - have lovely parts, but also less savoury areas, as do Bow, Bethnal Green, Bermondsey etc.
One thing I've actually found then is that if you get a nice part of any area, its about as good as anywhere else. So places that sound a bit dodgy, like Walthamstow (particularly the Village), Barking and Hackney can get you just as nice a living position, for less money usually, and there's little practical difference as with the tube you're never far from anywhere.
I think there is an instinctive feeling that you need to be close to the action, and somewhere on the edge of zone 1, but in reality its often not the best bet.Former MSE team member0 -
yeah i don't particurlarly want to be bang in the centre. Like already mentioned i think i will go and have look round raynes park, ealing, imbledon etc and see what they are like0

If you still want advice, a lot of people post 'thinking of moving to....' threads on the England board. You may be able to get some more advice there

I have to put in a mention for good old north west London here! NOt sure about exact prices but am pretty certain they fall within your budget.
West Hampstead is a good place to try. Loads of bars and restaurants and grocers shops etc. Plus it has three different trainlines running through it. It's only a short walk up a steep hill to Hampstead Village and Hampstead Heath too. Kilburn is up and coming and again, has good bars/pubs and eateries. Willesden has a vibrant bar scene - the past 5 to 10 years have really seen it change (not being biased or anything!) All three are also on the Jubilee Line - suburbs to central London in 20 minutes!:j Take That 23/12/2007:j :dance:0 -
west hampstead is certainly out of my price range. Willeston-is it a fairly safe and quiet area residentially?0
