7 current accounts and a couple of pointless savings accounts.

should close a couple down because I only really use 3 of them, HSBC, Halifax and TSB.
Better still, switch them for £200-400 or so? That's if you haven't already bagged all the incentives?

5... Halifax Reward used as my main account, 2 TSB Classic Plus used for savings and 2 Nationwide FlexDirect which are sitting empty - opened them both for switching incentives, waiting on another switch offer to get rid. Used to have a lot more but I closed a lot of them because I couldn't keep track, and now the 'closed' section of my credit report looks like a phonebook.

I currently have three bank accounts; one with Lloyds, one with NatWest and one with TSB.

The TSB one isn't really used much (at the moment) but once Santander finish their current Apple Pay bonus (29/02/16) I'm going to use my TSB a/c to earn 5% back until that ends on 31/12/16.

I opened the NatWest one to close my loan account down I'd held with them; am considering opening a Halifax current account to take advantage of the £100 switching bonus.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

    I have three:

Smile was my original bank account and just had that for years.

I then opened a basic current account with Bank of Scotland in order to get the Electron card which, at the time, was useful for avoiding surcharges on travel bookings (I don't think that applies any longer).

More recently I've opened one with TSB for the 5% interest and now the 5% cashback on contactless.

It would of course have been nice to get all these things from one account but on the other hand since Smile is essentially Co-op Bank it's probably good to have alternatives set up!

    9. 4 I use:
    - Club Lloyds (main...salary paid in, mortgage pulled from)
    - TSB (IRL spending while there's contactless cashback)
    - Halifax (online spending as it's empty most the time)
    - NatWest (new...moving all my DDs to it which is all it will be used for)

Also have HSBC ADV (save together), NationWide FD (5%), just opened Tesco (next to fill) & a 2nd Lloyds acc (gambling). Today my co-op will switch to Yorkshire Bank. When Tesco's nearly full I'll open a BOS & move it to there.

How do you conclude that? I am sure HappyMJ wouldn't have them if they didn't need them.

Can you even get 28 sole, interest paying accounts?

My very first bank account was when I left school and started work in the late 60's. It was Trustee Savings Bank which served me until the early 70's when I moved to London and opened a Williams & Glyn's account. That was my very first account with cheques. Now my TSB account has brought me full circle back to it although not the same as it was of course.

How on earth do you keep tabs on that many :eek:
Practice, and a "Little black book", and no hair left.:rotfl:
The Wife and kids will have their work cut out if anything should happen to me, or, my memory fades.
They all have the Max amount in, to get the best out of them, SO's and DD's are a bit of a headache.I also operate them monthly, just to be within the Spirit of the T/cs.
Once set up, they look after themselves.
Only done one switch though;;few months ago.
    PLUS;;
    I closed 3 BOS a while back.LBG.
    Regret that.;););)
    Might re-apply:cool:

15 but a couple are dormant, just kept for switch incentives. It'll be weird going down to a couple once I don't have any savings to max the interest on.

Not any longer but it was possible in the past. A current account isn't useless just because it doesn't pay interest - examples of "good" accounts include FD, HSBC, M&S, Nationwide, Halifax, donor accounts at any other bank, as well as premium accounts that are useful for some people.

At that kind of figure in what way are they not useless? FD, HSBC & M&S have regular savers but can you have e.g. 5 M&S accounts each with its own regular saver?

Edit: Although I'm not sure how many Tesco accounts can be opened with the 3%
