I can see why the OP hopes to find a job with a less rigorous recruitment process because of their gappy CV. However, the vast majority of employers do a bit more than a cursory glance of a CV or a quick chat as an interview.

I think the lack of your GCSEs in maths and English is a blockage for you. That's the most basic qualification many employers want you to have.

Do your GCSEs which is free if you havent got them and do volunteering whilst doing the course.

If your on jobseekers there's free courses at college also

What have you done in these last few months about volunteering for example? Or looking at Christmas jobs? Cleaning? Starting a window cleaning round?

You need to ask the Job Centre for signposting to a support service or ask the CAB for advice about any services available.

You clearly lack motivation (for whatever reason) and need support to get you started.

If you were able to be a 'self starter' then you would have gone out and done stuff by now.

No amount of new threads here are going to help - they are just making you feel like you are doing something when actually you are doing nothing.

Speak to someone in the real world and ask for help and support... otherwise you'll be posting the same old stuff, and getting the same kind of responses, for years to come.

What a judgemental and unhelpful post by and I hope that Tiddlywinks feel validated as have clearly gone out of your way to dig up old posts by the OP in a sad attempt to discredit a poster who is clearly struggling with mental health issues

I haven't had to 'go out of my way' at all. I could clearly remember each of the threads and so felt it relevant to mention them.

This poster has procrastinated for months - writing the same things and getting the same responses that he clearly never follows up.

I accept that mental health may play a part in this scenario which is why I suggested the poster seek advice from the Job Centre and from CAB etc so that he might be pointed towards a support network.

No amount of 'there, there, life is hard' comments will achieve anything. The OP clearly lacks motivation and doesn't currently have the ability to 'just do it' so let's not keep pretending things will change and just address that reality.

This is not a judgement - just fact - no negativity attached.

The OP needs to ask for support (in real life) so that he can make those approaches to volunteering, cold calling or whatever is required.

I did voluntary work for a few months before I found paid employment, & I believe it help me find work as its some recent work experience on your CV, also a lot of employers look favorably on voluntary work

Also on the needing a university qualification to work, I have been employed for 15 months and I don't have a qualification from a uni
  • OP I would suggest trying to work for a mental health charity in peer support roles, initially as a volunteer, once you've proved capable there's a good chance that will be offered a paid post. Peer Support roles require the postholder to have lived mental health experience, they act as a mentor to service users and offer hope and encouragement to show that recovery can be achieved; you do need to be in recovery though.

Try Mind, Together for Wellbeing, Recovery Focus, they will all have some sort of peer support opportunities.
