  • Either lane, provided the left hand lane is not left turn only which it doesn't appear to be.

Incidentally, you are wrong. It's a quirk of Google earth. The 9 o'clock exit goes in to the supermarket therefore it does not have a identification. What it is trying to indicate is that the A52 is 13 o'clock and 3 o'clock but also so is the roundabout it's self. It's just an unfortunate placing of the tag. You will however notice the rest of the tags are before the roundabout on their respective roads, and the one you think is for ASDA is actually on the roundabout itself indicating that the roundabout itself is the A52.
    Ah, yes.

And further, I looked again, and the arrow in the left lane of the approach to the roundabout is left only and marked "SMKT" ie. into the Asda supermarket).

(choose the street view and rotate to see how it looks)

Therefore the left lane is dedicated to the new first turn into Asda, and the middle one is for the 2nd turn onto the A52.

However, I've noticed that the first exit, doesn't show on some maps.

So maybe the roundabout markings haven't quite caught up with the change.

The markings on the roundabout itself are a bit poor though, as they both show the lane continuing around and have the left arrow to take the first exit.

    Very confusing!

What lane to take on any roundabout varies depending on the following.

Is there a sign present before it showing the different exist?
If so, is the exist on the sign you want to take before or after 12 o'clock?
If there is no sign, are there markings on the road stating which lane to take?
If there are no markings and no signs prior to the roundabout you generally look if the exit you need to take is before or after 12 o clock and use the inside or outside lane as needed.

I've never seen a 3 lane roundabout personally without a sign showing exists prior to it or the lanes being marked

  • From memory approaching on the 607 it splits into 3 lanes.

Left is to the supermarket and only to the supermarket as indicated on the road. Middle is the second edit A52 St augistins way and the right hand lane is straight on. Not the best designed roundabout in the world and the amount of people ( understandable I guess) who use the supermarket exit to go on St augistins and it up someone using the middle lane is unreal.

The lane has a left arrow, there isn't any actual signage to say it is for the supermarket only. Before the asda was built the left lane was for left, the middle straight on, and the right for right.

There isn't even any signage to show how many lanes there are.

    Either:
Begin in Centre Lane and filter towards left lane as you approach Exit 2, indicating left of course as you pass Exit 1.
    OR:
Left Lane, stay in it, as you pass Exit 1, indicate left.

EVERYONE should remember the Roundabout Rule: give way to traffic approaching from your right, or traffic already on the roundabout. If more drivers kept to this simple rule (or, more to the point, stopped ignoring it!) life would be much easier.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

The left arrow road markings leading up to the roundabout say "SMKT".

It doesn't however say smkt only, which many do here (don't live in Grantham) when the lane is only for a supermarket, retail park etc, just as you get for example a lane saying meadowhall (well not the whole word!) yet they aren't exclusively for meadowhall. So why is there not a specification, as that would actually make sense from a roadusers point of view.
