Sat 5th/Sun 6th December - what small DFW things will you be doing this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Good morning
hope all everyone is well - this month seems to be hurtling past as much as the rest of the year  my list for this weekend is:
Check banking, PAD
Update spreadsheet
Meals from stores, try and use some things up from the freezer before Christmas
Print tickets for a show were going to see at theatre tomorrow as part of girls Christmas present. Will have a drink in the coffee shop but budgeted for
Try and order last few presents later
Packed lunch for dancing - final one until January
Friends later for play (girls) and tea (me)
That's about all I can think of, I'm sure there's more, I'll check back later

Thanks for the start Jonno, sounds like a lovely weekend for you.
Morning to all those who follow.
Ally, I love how you are always there with an answer for us all
Not a no spends day as dh has just gone to get the new tyres on his car.
Boys have swimming lessons but we will take snacks with us.
I could do to pop into town to pick up the 02 freebies as one of them ends today. Could maybe tie this in with calling in at my parents for a free lunch
Other then that I'm not sure what we're doing.
It's been one of those weeks money wise, car service, needing tyres, brake pads, boiler breaking and now the dishwasher sounds like it's on it's way out!!!! Arrgghhh
Better get moving and start getting kids some breakfast
Will add to the list as I go0 -
Morning all!
I'm totally zonked today and my legs are sooo sore! ventured down for a cuppa but came straight back to bed (apologies to those of you with young kiddies). Will post properly in a bit when I can muster the energy to switch on the pc!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Morning! I'm trying to get my YNAB4 to match our current accounts. I only downloaded it last night. Then this afternoon the husband and I are going away for the night as a late 40th birthday treat. So the complete opposite of money saving. We haven't really got the funds for the dinner or massages that are booked but we've got to suck it up as I tried to cancel the massages first thing yesterday (when I decided to start budgeting properly) but was just shy of the 48 hours notice they require and the room is already paid for by a relative gifting it to us. Doesn't help that the husband was worried about something and bottled it up, so went out and got drunk yesterday so spent half of his wages.0

and now the dishwasher sounds like it's on it's way out!!!! Arrgghhh
It may be something you can repair yourself. Maybe google "noisy dishwasher". We've been able to repair appliances in our house a couple of times with the aid of YouTube and a spare part. Try this Link for inspiration (Link).
I'm sure you keep your dishwasher clean but sometimes cleaning the inaccessible bits helps too. Could be something stuck in the mechanism? You could use vinegar and bicarb. These links show you how to take the dishwasher apart for cleaning. (Link) (Link2)

I definitely second seeing if dishwasher repairable. A couple of years ago we were all set to buy a new Dyson. Then mr f found the broken part online for £5 & once that was fitted, I found a way of mending the other problem with a lump of blu-tak! I defo don't have Ally's techical skills for mending though! Her instructions for repairing our water butt last year means we are still using it!

Morning all

Thanks for the start Jonno
Just looking anxiously out of the window at the bedding blowing (hard) on the line  It is very windy today! I shall have to get it in shortly, or it will end up over the neighbour's! Still, it will have dried a fair bit and can be finished off on the airer
They were almost completely dry
I put out another load which partly dried and is now on the airer.
Other things today:
No heating on, but will light the wood burner later Done
Locate Xmas wrapping paper - if I have any (I keep forgetting this
) Found it - 3 rolls of nice Waitrose paper, bought reduced back in January, found at the back of the trunk in the spare bedroom
Dry washing already on airer folded up and put away
Dog walks x 2 (1 done) Both done
Hoover upstairs and tidy spare room / ensuite Done
Meals from stores Done
Aiming for a NSD
Failed, bought a nice HM fruit cake for £4 at a craft fair thing in town. I have frozen it for now, and will decorate as a Christmas cake
Any surveys that are available (done one for Yougov and got screened out, as usual, of an Ipsos one) No more today
Check FPL Done, didn't win :rotfl:
Pup has been running around barking and being a right pain all evening, but have just realised that he was frightened of some dead pheasants OH had hung up in the back porch :rotfl:. OH has now put them out in the workshop, and peace is restored.
Right, I must go and rescue my washing as it looks about to take off  I will pop back later to update.
Hope you all have a good day

Morning Campers,
What a blowy morning! So far today, I have:
*Achieved 2 baths from 1 lot of hot water.
*Burned a few calories for free with a brisk walk down to the post box.
*Made a loaf in the BM.
*Put steak & kidney in SC for tonight. Prepped carrots to go with it as they need using up. No food wasted here.
*Baked cake for Dad. Used up some of the surplus from my Christmas pud & mincemeat ingredients.
*Free entertainment listening to audio book. NSD as mr f has had to work & I have no inclination to get the village bus or walk into town.
Still to do:
*Record 2 min video for a brand forum I'm doing surveys for at the moment. Bit of a faff but as I have an opinion on everything, I may as well get paid for it!
*Pack everything for family day tomorrow. We are furthest north (East Midlands) & my sister furthest south (London) so we meet up in the middle. All gifts wrapped & ready to go.
*Bake 20 macaroon mince pies.
*Pay £45 into CC account to cover my new top which I bought with my sealed pot money. Am doing a lot of this to maximise points for John Lewis vouchers. Our humax box is apparently preparing to die & the new piece of kit is £190. Mr f (who is in love with kit) says he's expecting price to drop in the new year. Have about £45 in voucher so far, another £20 on the way & whatever I receive in next CC payout so will see if the Exchequer (i.e Me!) sanctions it.
*Try to cast on mr f's 2nd big hiking sock before he comes home.
*Update blog if time.
*Wash hair & let it dry naturally. Shall have to straighten tomorrow tho. Am not appearing in family photos looking like Medusa.
Ok, time to find my patty tins & get cracking with pastry.
