Yes, it's awful and yes, I'm sorry for you & your mum and hope something better comes along but rules are rules. As, from previous experience of threads on here and FB, members of this very forum would quite happily go around shouting that someone wrongly won if their entry was either late / worded incorrectly / missing something / looked fake / etc etc.

Just take it as a lesson learnt and check the T&Cs from now on :)
    Thanks to all posters :A

A win isnt a win without the prize in your hand.. until it arrives youve not won it.. they will announce winners and often there is this that or the other reason the chosen winner isnt legible for the prize.

when I won tickets last year the company emailed me confirming the time I entered and saying to ignore posters who say differently (I had entered about 2 minutes before it closed)

I am so sorry this as happened to you, I once was told i had won a amazon voucher and yeap i got excited as i had just started comping, They emailed me back and told me i had not won and it was a mistake i sent a quick reply and within 2 hours i had a code for a amazon voucher to use. I now do not count the prize unless it is in my hand hence why i only update my sig when i get the prize even thou i post about the win in IWIWIW.

A win is only a win when it's in my possession or the cheque has cleared and vouchers, from wins or not, should always be spent asap in case the company goes bust as they usually become almost worthless. I also try to avoid mentioning "potential" wins until I have them, that way no one else is disappointed if they don't arrive and there is no "has it arrived yet/that's been along time etc".

This company are quite correct to disqualify and then select a winner who complied with the T&C's. But while they are not obliged to do anything for the OP there is nothing to stop them making some sort of gesture - Next selected a winner who had not exactly quoted the correct phrase to win a £250 voucher, this was pointed out to them and a new winner was selected but I think they still gave the "non-winner" £100.

this happened to me once but the other way round - it was an instagram comp where the first five comments were the winners, I was one of the five first but was not a winner. Eventually I managed to get the prize but Ts and Cs are there for a reason.
Thank you to everyone that posts on here
