Anyone else lost digital TV?

Pressing Menu on the remote had no more effect than any other button - it really was absolutely dead (yes I had put in new batteries) - and I can't physically reach the box itself. So I made a cup of tea, with, it turned out, off milk. I switched everything off in a temper and went out for milk.
I have just switched on again, and digital TV has been magically restored. All I need now is to swap my hammer for a magic wand, so Studio60 appears on my DVD rather than black nothingness.
Thanks everyone - maybe if I switch this off I'll get the thanks button back.
Innactive meant starting a channel re-scan from a menu option, not simply pressing the menu button.
Glad it's working now anyway!
Try using ccleaner to sort out your thanks on the forum. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Do a re-instal from the menu, seems to cure a lot of channel losses.0

I agree that most can be scanned from a menu but wasn't sure the the OP would understand this proceedure.
The OP has had the week from hell, but still has her marbles. Where should I go to learn this procedure? I'm alternating between restored service, no service at all, and sound without picture. Your suggestion of switching off with TV in digital mode doesn't help. It's currently a toss-up between the hammer and immersing the box in a bucket of water.0 -

If you unplug the box from the mains and switch it on after 30 seconds, select menu, scroll down to set-up/installation and press first time installation it will reload the channels.0 -
Sorry if I'm missing the bl**din obvious, but selecting menu from the remote gets me nowhere, and as I explained several years ago* my back has gone and I can't physically get to the box itself.
* really not being sarcastic, just that it feels as if this week has lasted for ever. Not your fault, I know.0 -

Well it depends on the make and model of your particular Freeview box? On my box there is not a button called Menu but pressing Status takes you to the various settings screens where you can force a re-scan. Hidden engineer options are accessible by pressing Status, Select, Text, Text, Select but your box is likely to be different. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thanks but it's the bit of my post after the..............that's significant, unfortunately. My box is not only likely to be different -I can't physically get to it because my back has gone. I could at a pinch throw something at it, but that's about it.0
