Friday 4th Dec - What small DFW things will you do today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

Well hello there everyone :santa2:
Happy Friday
Today I'm going to continue my obsession with ynab
Ha ha DNMS - your comment made me chuckle yesterday. I am a serious convert and I want to tell everyone I know. :rotfl:
Got some important paperwork to send back for fraud peeps. Branch says they will fax it for me rather than having to post :T
Started xmas shopping so might nip out at lunch for some other bits and pieces. :rudolf:
Packed lunch as usual
Quiet night in tonight with T's meal deal and vino
Mind is actually blank - I'm sure there is more.

Good morning La E. Thanks for starting us off. :hello: and to all that follow:)
Today will all be about getting to bedtime for me
stayed up late to do presents and not disturb DH before his night shift and after being in bed an hour and a half eldest DD came in, in all fairness she went straight back off. Then about 2 hours later smallest was crying, was all a bit confused as I was in a deep sleep. Turned out shed vp gone downstairs to find me - but it was obviously dark
she didn't go off to sleep and half an hour later the cat joined us to add to the fun  we did get about another hour but it's going to be loooong Friday.
Anyway, enough waffle, my list:
Meals from stores, HM soup and bread roll to work for lunch
Check banking, small PAD if I can manage it
Wrap last few presents tonight if I get chance, did all that I could get my hands on without waking the house
Plan meals for weekend and write small shopping list of fresh stuff
Get DH to call about getting his discount linked to online account so I can place a festive order
Remind DH to give out DD invites at school today.
Check one poll
Check £co again, despite it saying I could have my money yesterday, the button was blocked out
Anyone help on COS - I uploaded one receipt to 2 different items, and the 2nd one got rejected saying receipt had already been used. Should I have bought them on different receipts? I thought you could use the same one but this is the 2nd time it's happened.
I'll check back later when I'm back from work. Enjoy your Friday's everyone.

Morning all

Thanks for the start LaE - I love YNAB too. It really keeps me on the straight and narrow.:money:
Jonno - hope you manage a peaceful day today. With COS you can select all of the items you're claiming for on one receipt so you should only scan once, but all the things that you're claiming for should be on there (if that makes sense).
I'm thrilled to have made it to Friday, and am very much looking forward to my 2 free lessons today for sure. I also don't have to fret about getting out and doing the shopping tonight because I did it yesterday. :j:j:j
Things to do today:
:xmassmile - check banking and PAD
:xmassmile - aim for nsd
:xmassmile - all meals from stores
:xmassmile - make good use of my free time at work today
:xmassmile - get some marking of some sort done
:xmassmile - get my classroom rearranged back to the way it used to be and how I liked it before. New layout just isn't working and I just don't care if other people prefer it
:xmassmile - get ds to footy training
:xmassmile - deliver party orders to my friend
:xmassmile - perhaps get the Christmas tree out
:xmassmile - aim for an early night :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Have a good day everyone. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Ok knitting question. I have this pattern I want to do but don't understand the bit in bold. Is there something missing or am I just not understanding? Can someone please talk me through it????
Pattern
Cast on 40 (44) 48 st and divide over 4 needles
Work 8 rounds of k2, p2 rib
Continue in pattern, starting with p1, k2, p2 and shifting it every 5th round, i.e. p2, k2, p2 a s o
Decrease for toe:
Knit 1 round
k2tog at the beginning of each needle until 4 st remain

Morning all

Thanks for the start La E
Popping in briefly as I have to get ready to take the dog to the vet's in a minute, for his post-op checkup.
Provisional list:
Loaf n the BM Granary today
Load of washing on, will peg it outside if it stays dry, otherwise it will go on the airer Mostly dry, will finish on airer
Stripped bed and washed linen
HM meals Done, or just about to
Make a cake- I have found a slow cooker chocolate cake I want to try. I will use up some posh drinking chocolate powder stuff I was given ages ago, in place of cocoa powder. I think it will work - I will reduce the sugar a bit to compensate for the fact that the drinking choc is probably sweetened (I will need to taste it, yuck, don't like drinking chocolate but love cake, any kind :rotfl:). Just got it out of the SC, and it looks alright....
Need to buy some potatoes and some cream for the cake
Also bought some crumpets, as little GD loves them and I was in Iceland where they are 2 packs for £1, and 2 more of the fab posh gammon joints for £5 as the butcher still had some (they are an odd triangular shape, hence the low price). These have gone in the freezer
Went into sales unit while out to tidy up / took in a couple of new bits
Usual dog walks, coinciding one with the trip to the vet's Done, all fine at the vet's (unsurprisingly)
Surveys, FPL etc Done a few for onepoll today
Look for Xmas wrapping paper as I didn't remember to do this yesterday Oops still not done this, must get on it!
There will be more, so will pop back after the vet's with a full list

DNMS- Eh? I've been knitting since I was about 18 & have never encountered a pattern instruction such as you describe. Presume the list of abbreviations is useless? I can't think what 'a s a' means & the example of what a shifted 5th row would look like is ambiguous.
Sorry I can't help.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

Hey All
Jonno - sounds like the night from hell. Broken sleep so hard.
LegoMum - Ah well. Glad I've no plans to sell as yet. And thank you
Made a £10 PAD today and that takes it to £100 extra so far this month paid.
Found 10p this morning on my walk
My Aunt had sent £5 in a card for DD so have added that to her savings book for when I next pay in.
Checked banking
Low cost dinner planned.
Thankfully the jabs don't seem to have had any further consequences other than DD being very sleepy all day.
Have a great weekend everyone
