    Hey guys,

    Hope everyone is ok.

Sorry I've been AWOL again. Work was busy and I've not been very well so just trying to tick along. Was very mse last night as had dinner in when I REALLY wanted to go out!

    Today's things:

    • Charge phone in work
    • Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheet. Have not had a chance to chat to OH about budget so did it myself and emailed to him for a thumbs up.
    • Run at lunchtime - worst run ever.
    • Turn data off on phone as getting low
    • Couple of beers later I think - freebies from friend at work
    • Crochet. Only 20 rows left of the blanky!! :T
    • OH out tonight so am going to chill out and probably have an early night!
    Have a good one all

DNMS - I've got a really easy sock pattern for 4-ply. I'm happy to photocopy it & post it to you if that would be helpful? I've used it for loads of pairs of socks & know it pretty much off by heart, so if you did get stuck, at least I'd be able to help! If this is useful, just PM me your address & I'll pop it in the post tomorrow.

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

Bob, glad that the little one didn't suffer after his jabs :) We've got new legistation in Wales as of the end of Nov, where we have to be registered as landlords and as we self manage the properties one of us needs to go on a course (I don't know what this entails as yet and I'm secretly hoping that my dad does it!!)

The boys have friends over tonight, I've hidden myself away to read/post on here, omg the noise!!!
  • CCL thanks for the COS advise. Makes sense.

work not too bad, made much easier by little traffic on way home rather than usual Friday madness :D also got from work:
    Packet posh crisps
8 packs of posh breakfast cereal packets
    4 pints milk

Works for me :D was all going spare, so I bought them home or look after :)

Seems a little quiet on here today. Will do some jobs when smalls are in bed and check back later x

    Hello,
Haven't posted much at all this week. Decided to have a busy week of getting caught up with stuff, which meant spending a lot less time on the internet. Reasonable day on the money saving front. Grocery spend was too high but December never a straightforward month as items being bought in advance, etc. Anyway, today's stuff:
*Had dividend bonus added to Co-op card. £25 on there now which will buy a Christmas ham, prosecco & a few other things.
*Posted Christmas cards. No cost today as had been buying a strip of stamps at a time for a while.
*Dropped bag off at charity shop. Not money saving always good.
*Today's freebies from O2 Priorities - 2 rolls of wrapping paper from the O2 shop & a pack of Star Wars stickers which will be shared between nephews this weekend.
*Found a novel I'd intended to buy in the Oxfam bookshop, also a vintage book as a gift for Mum.
*Big bag of veg from local farm £5 (8 food miles).
*99p Shop for a couple of toiletries. Branded toothpaste & multipack of soap. Couldn't pay full price now.
*Free coffees & 'Guardian' in Waitrose.
*Cleaned entire house using minimal chemicals & washable microfibre cloths. Quicker today as mr f off work so we did it between us.
*Remembered to take steak & kidney out of freezer for slow cooker tomorrow when I'm intending to bake festive goodies.
*Heating only just about to go on. It hasn't felt very cold today.
*1st issue of Radio Times arrived on a £1 deal which mr f signed up for because we do usually buy all the Christmas ones.
*Bought a £2.99 lippy....& very good it is too! I used to be such a spendy Clinique girl back in the day......
*Will knit tonight. Just got the fairisle panel of this sleeve to do (12rows!) then a green bit (2 rows), then I'll be ready to darn in all the ends, sew it up, knit the neckband & FINALLY WRAP IT!!
Oh & I haven't forgotten I promised to post a photo of those self-patterning socks on my blog.....sorry it was curry this week instead. Next post DEFO socks!
    Love to all,

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Foxgloves - that's a good idea about saving stamps up. Do they ever expire out of interest? I can remember the shock of asking for 20 stamps last year and even 2nd class was eye watering.

LegoMum - I think they'll do the same here eventually. We're in a funny position which I think I've mentioned before but we have a flat we rent. But we are currently renting a house ourselves. We did own a house too but sold that. However housing market has gone so nuts we'd need to move further out to get a nice place without spending a fortune now. It's just not good value in my opinion at the moment. So we are happy as is but I'm aware it's a complicated situation ultimately.

Carrie -why was your run so bad? Surely a bad one is better than none at all.

  • Bob - I was just too knackered between Thursday's crossfit and this weird cold. I shuffled round very slowly and I'm totally exhausted now. Almost had to walk!

Having said that, you are totally correct in that it was better than sitting on my bum :)

    Pattern
Cast on 40 (44) 48 st and divide over 4 needles
    Work 8 rounds of k2, p2 rib
Continue in pattern, starting with p1, k2, p2 and
    shifting it every 5th round, i.e. p2, k2, p2 a s o

ASO means "and so on" or etc.

    So you've done this:
KKPPKKPPKKPP...till the end for 8 rows

    Now do this

PKKPPKKPPKKPP...till the end of the row for 5 rows

    Now do this

PPKKPPKKPPKKPP...till the end of the row for 5 rows

    Now do this

KPPKKPPKKPPKKPP...till the end of the row for 5 rows

Then repeat I've written til it tells you to do something else.

You'll get a pattern like this:

    VV--VV--VV--VV--
    VV--VV--VV--VV--
    VV--VV--VV--VV--
    VV--VV--VV--VV--
    VV--VV--VV--VV--
    -VV--VV--VV--VV-
    -VV--VV--VV--VV-
    -VV--VV--VV--VV-
    -VV--VV--VV--VV-
    -VV--VV--VV--VV-
    --VV--VV--VV--VV
    --VV--VV--VV--VV
    --VV--VV--VV--VV
    --VV--VV--VV--VV
    --VV--VV--VV--VV
    V--VV--VV--VV--V
    V--VV--VV--VV--V
    V--VV--VV--VV--V
    V--VV--VV--VV--V
    V--VV--VV--VV--V
    V--VV--VV--VV--V

That's my take on it anyway.
