what if you don't pay the road tax?

SInce the Paris attacks I've been pulled over twice for insurance checks. I even heard one police chck my details on the radio. They checked for MOT, insurance, confirmed my name, address, DOB etc. Checked if there was anything outstanding or any notifications about me on the system. Did not recall any road tax issues but I'm sure that was something they'd checked if they're checking all these other stuff.
Interesting, for what reason were you stopped if you had valid insurance, tax and MOT?
Was it, by any chance, racial profiling?0 -

Rightly so. Unless you ping an ANPR camera or they have a reason to stop you, they should leave you alone.0 -

it's not ANPR, ANPR you'll only get pulled over if you have something blatently not right on the system. But its not foolproof because people drive their brothers/spouses/parent cars uninsured etc.
ANPR will give it a false pass. So they do random roadside stoppages at chokepoints, they close down all but one lane, filter traffic through 1 lane. then randomly ask certain vehicles to pull over. they check the usual stuff but also check to make sure the insured driver is driving and nobody else.
I've been unlucky to get pulled over 2/3 times I passed one of these. It's officers on the ground that make the call to pull people over. Once or twice I don't mind but if it's more frequent its a PITA.0 -
