Keep getting tickets in my space

Hi,

I keep getting tickets from VCS for parking in my space, they say I'm failing to display a valid permit, when in fact they are failing to look. The permit is on the left fork in the tax disc holder on my bike. They seem to be confused be the missing 2 wheels and lack of roof. The latest was last week, which I've send another 'appeal'.

The first one they issued, they cancelled for a £10 cancellation fee, which I paid against my will, my other half just wanted it to be done with. Little did we know they'd keep coming back for more.

I'm fed up of dealing with them, they've also refused my appeal on the next ticket and passed it on to Debt Recovery Plus for the one I got a month or so ago. DRP send demands for payment via email and the post, sometimes days apart, I'm feeling quite harassed by both companies, is this something I can report to the police?

I can't see them ever taking it to court as surely they can't win, but is there anything I can do to get them to crawl back under the rock?

All-over motorbike cover? They can't see your number plate then!

    Do you own the property?

    Explain "your space"
How is it your space, do you own it, rent it, lease it and what documentation do you have and what does it say.

It's too late for the 3 I've already got, plus they'd just lift it up and I don't want the hassle of covering it up every morning. It is my space in that I've been allocated it and have a permit for it, somewhere I will also have the letter the permit was detached from.

I don't own the property, the company I work for leases a floor, and it comes with a few parking spaces. The building manager lets VCS have the reign of the car park.

I'd sooner pay a solicitor than these parasites.

nice letter / phone call / email (false name) , " I use one of your car parks and have a motorcycle , where would you like me to display the permit I have been given ?

I feel that taping it to the seat would result in damage/theft , how do you feel about me putting it in my surplus tax disc holder?"

    and await a reply ,,,

    put them on the spot

PS: , its not to late for the three tickets you have been given

  • My spot it next to a pillar, so I've laminated a sign for them, pointing out the permit. I shall be sticking it up in the morning. I'm assuming it's not legal to cover/remove my number plate?

One other point, on one of the tickets they are claiming my white bike is black and on the floor below the one where I park

They claim it's too late to appeal as it has now 'progressed to the debt recovery stage' I'm also on at my employer to get in touch with the landlord to sort this all out.
  • While it's in the private car park (of the public road), there's nothing wrong with covering or removing the number plate, which is why it was suggested to get a cover.

You need to read up on the NEWBIES thread to realise what a bunch of empty threats the debt collectors are.

And get heavy with the building management company who employ VCS. This shambles is entirely their fault, so make it their problem. Don't be fobbebd off with any brush-off, e.g. "not our problem", or "appeal to VCS." TELL them to get the tickets cancelled, to have your fraudulently gained £10 back, and to stop VCS from dishing out more tickets.

Better to do something sooner rather than later as you are now on their "suckers" list.

Perfectly legal in a private residential car park. I'd be inclined to rig up some kind of clip fastening arrangement for the number plate so when you get home you can simply unclip it and take it indoors, and when you go out you can clip it back on again. Obviously needs to be secure enough that it doesn't jump off when you hit a bump! Perhaps something involving a thumbscrew or wing nut.

It is an easy mistake to cars, motor-cycles and cars look very similar to your average knuckle dragging PPC drone.

VCS are members of the IPC and your flat is rented by your employer, drop the v.a.t. bomb

If, as they claim, this is contractual charge, it is a fee for parking, and thus vatable. Have they accounted for vat on their paper work?

Ask them for a vat invoice. If they ignore your request, (which they probably will), it is a useful stick with which to beat them if it ever gets to court.

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • It is at my place of work, an office block, not a flat, I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I also do not pay for the parking space as the car drivers in the building do. I'm not sure the VAT angle applies.

One of the emails the debt collector has sent has attachment of a photo that is of a printed email :S from stevem@excelparking.co.uk, the PCNs are coming from VCS. I'm assuming they are all one company.
