Thanks for the replies.
And no Footyguy, I never knew there was another thread. I just googled AVRO reviews and this is the one that came up.
I have been with EON for years was on a 2 year fixed deal and that expired a few years ago, never bothered moving tariffs. Just done a couple comparison sites today and they said that with AVRO I could save £515 compared with the tariff I am on with EON which is not to be sniffed at.
I didn't realise that if I move house with any supplier that I wouldn't be liable for an early exit fee.
Just to confirm footyguy's excellent advice. Exit fees definitely don't apply when moving house. They're only when changing supplier and then only on certain tariffs. As above, as you're on our Energy Plan, there's no fees involved either way.
Malc“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of E.ON. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
I switched to Avro on 12 th March, without a hitch and have sent my readings in.
First DD taken on the correct date and for the correct amount. So far so good.
There are no exit fees with Avro and the tariff is variable.
As regards saving £500 plus, if you've never ever switched before,it's possible.
I was at one time with EON, worst provider I've ever been with.
Not one correct bill in the two years I was with them.
Might have improved since and if they were the cheapest I would give them another try.
But their tariffs are still too high for me.0 -
Not very likely, check the calculations yourself.
Looks possible if Fergie76 is an above average user.
Fergie76 has consulted a couple of comparison sites already and if they give the same result, it's probably correct.
I just did a quick comparison based on 13000kWh of gas and 3000kWh of electricity, and that showed a potential saving of about £400 with Avro's cheapest offering, vs Eon's most expensive SVR tariff, so not too far short of the saving Fergie76 indicated. This was based on Midlands supply area.
But there were even more savings to be had (about another £40 on my figures) especially if Fergie76 were to look at seperate suppliers.0 -

Wouldn't know how to?
I got my bill from EON today after submitting actual readings, so I used the readings from my bill in the comparison website. On the comparison the EON prediction for the year was the same as what was on the EON website.
I think I supply the whole street looking at the size of my bill...0 -

My readings were:
Gas - 15518 kWh
Electricity - 7104 kWh
I'm in the South West, 3 bed house. Only gas is the heating and the water.0 -

Based on those figures (electricity is well over twice the average) then you could be saving almost £600 based on Eon's most expensive SVR ... so perhaps you are not actually on their most expensive option (such as payment quarterly on receipt of bill)
Anyway, with Avro cheapest option that should cost you just £1284 p.a.
But you could possibly save almost another £50 even on that by using seperate suppliers :money:
Essentially Avro are competitive for electricity, but not really for gas, hence the £50 oncost if you opt for dual fuel from them.
A pity you missed out on the MSE-Eon collective tariff recently - I don't have the exact figures, but I estimate that could have saved you about £35 on electricity compared to Avro offering.0 -

My tariff is E.ON EnergyPlan and I pay by fixed monthly direct debit.0 -
What gas plan would you recommend if I go separate?0

Get your bill from one year ago and take the readings.
Get your latest bill and do the same or go read your meters.
You need to know your ANNUAL consumption when you go to a comparison site such as https://www.energyhelpline.com0 -
RE: Avro Security Deposit in their T&C
On speaking to them I was informed this deposit would be initiated if a customer failed the Credit Check.
This would be to prevent bills being run up without a means to pay.
To date (6th April 2016) they have not used this option on any of their customers
Personally I dont see this as a problem0
