    This is what Nationwide say:
    Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply for a Flexclusive Regular Saver, you must be a main current account customer with us, this means that you must either:
    • Hold a FlexOne account and be aged 18 or over, or hold a FlexAccount and have:
      • Been paying in £750+ a month for the last 3 months (excluding transfers from any Nationwide account held by you or anyone else); or

      • Completed an account switch to us (from a non-Nationwide account) using our Current Account Switch Team in the last 4 months; or

    • Hold a FlexDirect or FlexPlus account

I know and my post mentions that my account is a FlexDirect account.
  • Thinking of opening one of these accounts, but currently in the middle of a mortgage application with Nationwide. Should we wait until that's done? Is there a credit check when opening the account?

With all due respect, what any of us know or post on here doesn't replace the Terms and Conditions for any account.

If you are talking about the FlexClusive Saver: there is no credit check for savings accounts. If you are talking about the pre-req current account, then yes, there will be a credit check. Why not ask Nationwide whether it would impact you mortgage application?

You want to credit check Nationwide? * They would be holding your money in this account so they wouldn't be offering you credit, you can't go overdrawn.

    * imagine a smilie (don't seem to be able to insert one)

Just the saver. My OH already has whatever their packaged account is called.

Ha! Yes, I thought I was being stupid, to be honest. I'm just so jittery about anything affecting the mortgage application.

if you open it on the first in the first month you get 5% interest on £500 for 31 days. If you open it on the 21st you get 5% interest on 10 days, and then 21 days on £6000 at the end of the year.

good thinking - its so obvious that I overlooked it. Thanks
