Always get a bit confused with this.
Does the payment in have to to be on the same date each month or anytime in a particular month?
And is it usually the same for the other monthly savers touted here?0 -
you make about £15 a year more by opening the account around the 20th, and then making further deposits on the 1st.0

For Nationwide, it is any day in a calendar month;
For HSBC-based, such as FD, it is anniversary day of a month that you opened the account.Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -

(My belief is because I have an Ulster Bank savings account and didn't have one of their card readers and could not use my RBS reader instead - until UB had sent a reader.)
Sorting some finances today and decided to have a go at transferring from natwest with nationwide card reader and it worked so now Im all sorted.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
I have looked through the thread & couldn't find what i was looking for...
I know the max you can save is £500
but for example could you save £150 one month then the next month save £250 or dose it have to be £500 each month??
Also do you get a card with this? can this be used in any cash machine??
This looks really good but opened Flex Direct A/C In October.0 -

You can put in any amount you want each month up to £500.

Try looking at the NW website. It couldn't be clearer on there.0

Yes, maybe this is the way forward and (Bowlhead), maybe I am a bit irrational to get all misty eyed over what is basically a business. After all I play this game with other banks. I suppose I just see how NW operates these days as just another nail in the coffin of the principles of mutuality (fancy that, I apparently have some principles...). Ive had accounts with them all my life, so please indulge me here!
Anyway, perhaps I should go all in, open a basic account somewhere else 1st and then use TCB to get the 78 quid switching bonus.
Just coming back to this one, as I did exactly what I said, went through TCB plus have a refer a friend going through (hopefully). THEN I see apropos of nothing on the TCB site:
Why is my Nationwide transaction declined?
Please be aware that to be eligible for cashback you need to have completed a full switch to Nationwide account as per the Terms and Conditions on their merchant page. Cashback will not be paid if you refer a friend to Nationwide or are referred by a friend. Nationwide will only accept claims for transactions up to 45 days after the declined date of the transaction; if your transaction does not track you will have 31 days from the date you initially made your transaction to lodge a claim for this. If you have met the above terms then please submit a ticket.
This actually came up on screen below a support ticket reply I had for a totally different issue, but since when was there an either/or rule for TCB or refer a friend? Did I miss something fundamental as I was under the impression that others had successfully got both in the past?0 -

I noticed that text as well. Whether it's always been there, I can't tell as I don't use TCB much, but I seem to remember the "main" Nationwide offer said something along the lines of "offer may not be used in conjunction with any of our other current account cash reward offers". Seems they have now decided to enforce this.0
