    We have a Three PAYG SIM, we've had it for about 4 (?) years, it has *never* had any credit on it.
    It is just used for incoming calls

    Maybe we are just lucky??

    Sure you are.

    I had a similar Tesco sim, but finally had lost the number after about two years. I was prepared to lose it, but many people aren't.
