Bosses/management don't notice anything when jobs get done targets hit deadlines met, to a degree you're invisible. They'll soon take note if you're off for a few days and things hit the fan!
By the content of your post you seem a concerned employee and taking time off to prove your point that the workload isn't fairly shared may not rest well with you. I would be narked if this were happening to me pregnant or not.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0 -
I've been in a similar situation, minus the pregnancy. When management decided not to give extra work to the other person in the team, I took another route - I've had regular meeting to say I need to do X, Y and Z but I only have so many hours in the day, which do you want me to prioritise?
It has reached a point where there was constantly more new tasks than I had time to do, on top of catching up with what had gotten behind (passed over to someone else and never done), I finally went above my manager and they arranged to get a temp in to help me clear my workload
That's brought up some of its own issues, and I'm still playing catchup slowly, but at least I can say I've been honest all along in saying where I am with my workload. Doesn't help when I come back off holidays to another mess (but decided I'm not delaying my leave any longer than I have already because of it..I am entitled to that leave!) but I did feel hugely better for speaking to management about it.0 -
I don't get given new jobs all of the time, but 9 times out of 10 if something needs to be done they come to me. The workload comes from the everyday tasks. We have a lot of reports that need updating daily, then we do a monthly report for them. At the moment I'm doing all 7 and this other girl hasn't even picked up one!
The jobs aren't difficult!
I started this job in April 2014 and I was given a lot of these tasks immediately, and we had more to do then as we've now outsourced a lot of our work. I never struggled so I don't know why she's getting such an easy ride.
It's making me dislike the people I work with, which makes me want to refuse to do any new work they give me.Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Working until 34 weeks with twins will be challenging! I have just finished at 32 weeks with twins and OMG I am uncomfortable.
Could YOU spend a day training this person? Or put in writing that after one more week, you will be assigning a certain percentage of tasks to this person, so they will need relevant training within the next 5 days...
You then need to make it clear which tasks they are responsible for, and if the don't get done, it is not your fault.
Put your feet up, watch some rubbish in tv, and RELAX!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

That's my aim, Pink! It's only a provisional date, I know I'll be going a bit sooner but 34 weeks works perfectly for the financial year :rotfl: I don't think I'm returning to work afterwards so it doesn't matter to me anyway! At work a minute ago they just said "oh I bet you'll be begging to come back to work once they're born, you'll be so busy!" and I said "I can't be any busier than I am now!" :rotfl:
I don't have the time to train her as I have to do all of these jobs :rotfl: I know my manager has some kind of "training plan" for her but heaven knows what it is. As I'm stressed I don't feel I have the patience for her. I've had to show her something so many times and she still doesn't get it.
That's the thing, they haven't given her any responsibilities, and I have no idea why!Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Taking some time off sick seems like a good idea - you will get the chance to relax a bit - even if you're still stressed thinking about going back surely this will be less stress than actually being there? It will also make the issue of training the new girl/finding a replacement more pressing and force the issue of your risk assessment as you'll have to have a back to work meeting with your boss.
Your health is more important than your job, stress can affect your pregnancy and with twins you have a higher risk of complications. So really you need to take a few days to chill out, don't go in tomorrow and the rest of the week. Relax and watch some comedies from the comfort of your sofa/bed and let your work colleagues sort out the rest."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." Paul Theroux0 -

The thing that stands out to me is when your manager is supposed to be training the new person but hasn't really - is he busy or not sure how to do things? Do you think it would be well recieved if you went to your manager and asked if it would be helpful if you took this person more under your wing so she is better prepared when you leave? But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

To be honest, I don't know. She has been here for ten years compared to my 18 months. She was on maternity leave last year and a lot changed but I swear she has caught up now. It would be well received but I'm not really that good at training others, I don't have the patience! Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016
