Just a thought Frecks, if it is that uncomfortable, perhaps it might be worth at least phoning the clinic to see if your blokey can get an earlier appointment. I'm very lucky in that respect, as our clinic allows you to pop in--providing it's not for test results or investigations.

  • The last time we tried for an appointment it took about two or three months - this time it has only been a matter of a couple of weeks, so quite good considering! Only 9 days to go now til we go!

He had to go to Wales this weekend (a four hour drive), so you can imagine how worried i was seeing as he is nearly passing out most days. Anyway, he was fine on the way there apparently, only stayed one night and did not take his mask (bad boy!). He drove home yesterday via friends in London, total of 6 hours driving, and i was expecting to be greeted by a grumpy, tired boyfriend. However, he was absolutely fine, said he hadn't felt as good in ages, was in good spirits, very conversational etc - and all this at 11pm after all that driving and no mask the night before! Lastnight he didn't wear it again!

It's weird, but that mask is obviously the cause of his problems - he even got up this morning in a good mood and said he felt fine!!

So we will have to explain all of this in 9 days and see what they have to say - no doubt will get a slapped wrist for not wearing it and be told all the dangers etc but hopefully they will understand just how rough he has been on this treatment.

    Bye for now!

There was a programme on the other night--- of been BBC2---where a young lady was talking about ear, nose & throat. Anyhooz, she also mentioned OSA & about the importance of using a CPAP once diagnosed, cuz left untreated, this condition is LIFE THREATENING:eek:

That bit really made me sit up & smell the roses I can tell you! On the whole I'm preety good, but if I forget to bring the water tank downstairs with me I have a habit of thinking 'one night won't hurt' Equally it was pointed out to me, that if it were something one of the offspring needed, I wouldn't think twice about trundling up & down the stairs a million times, if it meant keeping them safe.

We're a weird bunch when it comes to looking after US personally, as opposed to our loved ones innt we :o

OSA is a condition which is supposed to be notified to the DVLA as the likelihood of killing others as well as oneself is too great. Licenses can be reinstated if it can be proven that the condition is well controlled.

I am personally very worried about this. If someone were to have an accident driving whilst being seen for OSA and not having the condition well controlled, I suspect they would have the book thrown at them, even if the actual accident were caused by someone else. I believe their insurance would also be invalid and they would be committing at least one driving offence, perhaps more (maybe someone more up to speed on motoring law could help there?)

I would treat it in the same way I would if I knew someone was getting into their car having drunk 6 pints.

Perhaps he would find the machine easier to tolerate if he realised just how serious this is.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

    hi there jojo.

.it is an offence to drive whilst having this condition,, the person may cause an accident and or kill himself,,

my DH was an HGV driver and he had to stop driving straight away,

,I dont believe people should put others at risk it is worse than than drunk drivers as they dont know what the heck they are doin but someone with this condition does know and should know better,,,and think of family and any other families that he my crash into

sorry to be so hard about this but if he wants to kill himself then please dont include anyone else in his suicide,,

  • I'm glad you agree with me, KAAT Lady, I was trying to let Frecks know this as gently as possible as it's her other half driving.
