We received our £200 Winter Fuel payment today and OH and I have shared it because he pays for the oil (but refuses to have the heating on unless it's sub zero outside, and not always even then:eek:) and I pay for the electricity. I feel the cold much more than him and have to resort to strategically placed halogen heaters especially in the evening so whist on the best electricity tariff the bill is still a bit high sometimes:o. We haven't got mains gas out in the sticks where I live:(. I'm prepared to cut down on anything and everything to save money but can't cope with cold, numb hands and feet despite wearing thick socks indoors.
I'm not going to count this £100 towards my total as I didn't make it through any effort of mine, it just arrived from our lovely kind Government:p. Will soon be used up anyway especially as I've heard we're in for an Arctic winter:eek:0 -

I'll have to see what I can dig up.
I have sooooo much stuff. everytime I rejoice as stuff is leaving my house I find some more hidden somewhere else! but it is slowly going...0 -

I'm a long way off being eligible for that (and it probably won't exist by the time I am anyway)
Got a couple of cold weather payments last year - which struck me as odd because it's meant to be paid if the temp is below 0 for 7 consecutive days and I don't think we even got 7 separate days below 0 in Glasgow last year.Aqua 0/1850 Cap.One 0/450 Vanquis 0/500 HSBC 0/100

well minor victory today. still fighting on with others
my telephony have agreed to let me and DH out of our contracts 6 months early if we choose to go somewhere else or if we choose to stay with them, to go on sim only. This will more than half our phone bills! especially as DH has iPhone and the contracts for those are ridiculous! Because you are paying for the phone in the contract!
you can buy refurbished from apple for £199 and if any issues go back direct to them to get it fixed under warranty!
so no more expensive phone bills that I couldn't afford even more so now!0 -

I still have a lot of stuff in the car boot cases but it's mostly vinyl that's worth less than £1 (or, often, less than 50p) and there's no point listing it at that price - especially since buy-it-now auctions require a price of at least 99p.
They're all listed on discogs already, anyway (where there is no minimum price)
Beyond that there's a few DVDs that might be worth a quid each, on a good day.
I've got a lot of stuff, but nothing worth selling.Aqua 0/1850 Cap.One 0/450 Vanquis 0/500 HSBC 0/100

I've never had a phone contract for this reason. I got my iPhone 4 on fleabay last year for £90. Perhaps if I get enough money over the xmas period I'll upgrade to the 5 which is currently sitting around £110-120.
Cracked the screen on my 4 last July and never got it fixed because it's £30 I never seemed to have spare, and doesn't impact the phone usage in any way. I can probably re-sell it for £40 or so in that condition, which would essentially make getting a 5 about £80 :money:
I've always been 2 generations behind with my iPhone, but that's when it drops to a reasonable price to buy one second-hand straight out.
I'm PAYG on o2 but have a bolt-on for 200mins/500MB data/some texts (400? maybe?) that costs me £10 a month so that's all I spend on my phone.Aqua 0/1850 Cap.One 0/450 Vanquis 0/500 HSBC 0/100

Lucky you:j. I'd much rather be young again than have £100;)0 -

I'm just like you here, lexbubbles. Absolutely loads of stuff (luckily mainly out of sight in the sheds) but not really worth selling.
A lot of it has been backwards and forwards to a few car boot sales already and not even sold at those prices so there's no chance of getting anything for it on ebay. I keep taking boxes of stuff to charity shops but I don't want to burden or embarrass them with unsaleable tat:o.
Aesop, brilliant result with the phones:T:T:T0 -
