Monday 30th November - What small debt free things will you do today?
Bobarella
When we start our debt free journeys we concentrate on doing the big things. Cancelling the sky membership. Cutting up the credit cards. But as time goes on it is important to focus on the small things you can do every day to make a difference. Leaving your cards at home when you shop. Taking a list with you. Making the most of what is already in your cupboards and fridge. Whatever it is you do be proud. It all adds up!

Good morning DFW team
It's the end of the month and I am feeling cheerful. OH got paid today so I can start moving things around and working out what is available to pay to the CC. Watch this signature
For me today I will be:
1. Walking as much as I can. Love walking anyway it's so good for mental health. I can start a walk in a foul mood but by the time I've stomped a few miles I'm feeling like the demons are vanquished.
2. Using up the enormous nappies (accidentally bought double sized for tiny DD) but won't be spending again till they are gone. Only 20 and they work so. ..
3. Planning a low cost easy tea like jacket potatoes with topping. We have a few things like pots of curry in the fridge to use up.
4. Sending the last of the birthday thank you cards. Using 2nd class stamps.
5. Remembering to take a drink with me on my walks to save buying one.
More as they appear.
Ziggy - thinking of you and your family today. Huge hugs.

Morning all

Thanks for the start Bob. Good luck using up the giant nappies....
It's finally payday :j:j:j:j:j:j This one feels as though it's been a long time coming, but has finally arrived. I will need to make time later to sort the budget out but today I'm just revelling in the fact that there isn't a huge £600 disappearing from my account to pay debt tomorrow.
Tired, and feeling a little bit sorry for myself today. Boo, I hate my own self pity some days. Anyway - here's today's little list
check banking
sort budget
15 mins housework and declutter
leave dh a list of jobs - he didn't get up yesterday at all again
Start my training with my friend tonight
get the kids to do their daily chores
start plans to run the freezer down a bit
full day of teaching
marking
continue organising this trip that I've left until the last minute
Think that will do for now. Have a good day everyone. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning all. Been a very busy week with work and home, and I think it will continue to be this week too
Today will be spend free for me but Mr Shortie is buying a telly for the house in the sales. I lost my wallet on Friday (bank cards have been cancelled) so I have no choice buy a no spend day :rotfl: Just hope the food I have with me will do and I don't end up having a particularly hungry day

Morning all

Thanks for the start Bob
Well, I didn't do a lot of things on my list yesterday (though in fairness I did do quite a lot of other things, like a load of washing, making bread, taking everything off the dressers and dusting them, and cleaning out kitchen cupboards
) Confession time too, I bought a coat and some new wellies for myself on ebay
Both were needed - I got rid of several coats to the CS a couple of months ago as they were now much too big. I now have just one (from a charity shop, and also rather big) plus a short jacket, so really needed a new one in the right size. My current wellies are years old and have developed splits, and I am tired of getting wet feet
Best thing is, Quidco money will cover most of the cost
So, today I have to:
Use stewed apple from freezer with my breakfast porridge, instead of bought fresh fruit (it is all fruit, right?) (Done)
Dog walks x 2 Only managed 1 decent one, due to pouring rain
Lists for Xmas cards, food and presents (not done yesterday) Still not done
Find a cardboard box for CS donations Or this
HM meals from stores, no food shopping today Managed this ok
Go into town to look for Christmas presents, including in the small independent shops
(our town is very small, but we have some quite good shops, if you don't want the big chains, designers etc - and they are all online anyway, aren't they?) Got quite a few, just one or two bits needed now
OH and I don't get each other Christmas presents, but donate some money to the local food bank instead - must get in contact and arrange that.
Pop into sales unit whilst out to see if anything needed A couple of things had gone, so I rearranged what was already there. I will take in something new tomorrow though
Walk all journeys (unless a massive restock is needed in sales unit in which case I will need to use the car - not very likely though :rotfl:) Done
Fold and put away washing currently on airer Done
Check banks Done
Usual cleaning / tidying (well, not that usual or it wouldn't look like it does
) Not done much of this
Been really lazy today, apart from walking a few miles
More effort needed tomorrow!
I'm sure there is more, but can't think of it at the moment
Hugs to those who are feeling down

Right! Let's try that again.
Thanks to Bob for starting us off
Ally, ccl and ziggy - sending good thoughts your way
Sending good thoughts to everyone else too
I have FINALLY finished the never-ending project in work. Thanks goodness! It was making me not want to go to work because I was so fed up of it!
The house is still partly chaotic from the party. Sweets, chocolates and general foodstuffs seem to be falling from every cupboard at me. The thought of eating any more of it is actually making me feel sick. Took a huge tub of roses, a fruit cake and a huge tub of celebrations to work. Will take MORE through the week. Am happy to have free "proper food" but don't want 20 tonnes of sugar!
Today's list:- B/D from stores. Buying lunch. Think I will have sushi. Veg stir fry for tea. Cannot face anything richer. - body has responded very positively to sushi, apple and weird green smoothie.
- Charge phone in work - done
- Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheet. Today is payday but need to have the previous month up to date for budget day tomorrow with OH - done
- Sort out crochet corner. Starting to get a silly amount of stuff - probably need to put some of it away
- Really good sort out/tidy round. The letting agent wants to do an inspection this week
- With regards to above, check for knocks/dinks/black marks on walls (mostly from OH carrying musical gear) and paint/clean them
- Sort out which food can stay and what is to be taken to work
- Crochet. Have only got about 40 rows of the blanket left to do. Then must weave in the ends of doom, do a quick border and done. My gut feeling is that baby will be a boy so will not do too frilly a border on it.
- Feed Christmas cakes as this didn't happen at the weekend
- Rediscovered a rucksack that I can use for work - save me buying a new one (removed from Amazon basket!)
- May declutter something. Friend took 3 t-shirts, a cocktail shaker, a DVD and another random thing that I can't remember (that's how important it was to me) to the cs for me on sat. Friend also nabbed two balls of yarn (one tail end, one unlikely to be used) from my stash.
- Friend has given permission for me to get rid of a coat that she gave me that I no longer wear (made the mistake once of taking something to the cs that she gave me. She was most upset!)

Have a good one all

Hi everyone :hello:
Hope things are going well with you guys. :grouphug:
Positive wishes being sent your way Ally.
And Ziggy – big deep breaths my lovely and you will get through each day as it comes.
I had a lovely weekend back in the homeland. Was a crazy drive there and back though – pretty scary in parts with the crazy wind and rain.
It’s payday today so need to check banking and sort out my piggybanks for the first time (Foxgloves motivation
)
I also need to think about how I can tell my pal that I’m not going to visit her in Dubai.
I thought I could use the money from my old house deposit but that’s gone on housey stuff instead (v glad about that) so my only 'choice' now would be to put it on a CC which I’m not going to do!!! Please send any advice re excuses/reasons etc...It’s hard when your pal is loaded but you’re paying off debt and they don’t know it...
