Well i can definately relate to that, there has always been that lovely element of trust and absolute wander in the world with the younger ones. It almost breaks your heart to see the cynisism enter their world as they get older, i used to hate to see that dead eye look when a child was worried. It's funny how protective we become over them and i would have stopped a truck dead for those children i have taught.
My family has had its share of heartbreak and horrible things happening over the past few years and people do constantly amaze me with their resiliant spirit. I have been thinking that maybe this board echoes that spirit and that is why we endeavor to go on and to realise there is something better for us all. Perhaps your sister sees herself in you in that respect, because you are continuing and acheiving and have a long time goal. You have a similar spirit in that you have trusted yourself to the folk on this board and in doing so have managed to help others-if that makes sense. Because you have done it then so will others. God i'm sounding mushy now must be the time of night, but i had to say it.

Thank you for the kind words but I think that the most helpful that I have ever been for any other posters is by trying to say something useful or helpful for them but instead I manage to come across as a complete idiot and give them something to laugh at. :o :rotfl:

  • I haven't laughed, maybe the odd smirk at banter wth ss. You must also remember you are a lot braver than some by posting thoughts, feelings and debts. it's a rollercoaster ride and i for one see echoes of my life and have the ability to laugh more at my self for the stupid mistakes i make than at you-perhaps more a case of laughing with you than at you? Do you realise that the way you have dealt with creditors has enabled me to pass on advice to a good friend of mine about full and final settlements. I looked up the template letters and then other threads and was able to print it off for her to act on for herself. I did that yesterday so you have hepled someone settle their minds. she was having to wait for an appt for the local CAB i only saw the sticky thread tonight about a drop in meeting which i have mentioned to her and she has passed it on to others. We all do what we can and you are helping more than you think- so don't knock yourself.

This is where I feel like a complete and utter fraud though because if I had not been forced into taking action and I really do mean quite literally forced into it and had people holding my hand and supporting me all of the way then I would still be hiding from my debt now. :o

  • There for the grace of god go all of us, that's why its called a lightbulb moment- when we can no longer get credit or have a card refused. My husband would still be hiding from his debts now if i had not made him face upto it and he still has a tendency to let me deal with things. i know you're going to say that this is the same as you but you have faced up to your debt and hubby is going to face up to his. i keep going on here and i have taped every show martin is on. i am getting as much work as i can around my daughter who has quite a few medical problems, and we are both now starting to work on things together and a lot of it is through this forum and the likes of yourself posting for the good or bad. i suppose when i was in full time work we had little debt and saved quite a bit up, hubby always liked to spend and unfortunately this couldn't be kept up when i had to stop working full time. he isnt a waster by the way, money spent was always well intentioned- i just wish he'd told me about it before then it wouldn't have been such a shock on top of everything else that has happened to us.

I am all embarassed now. :o I have had a really good day today and just feel like going about and hugging absolutely everybody that I come across as a result of this but obviously I do realise that this is really not a good idea and could cause me to get a criminal record so I have been restraining myself. :rotfl: I just feel like everything is going really well just now for a change and I just hope that this continues for a long time because I think that in all fairness I am seriously overdue some good fortune. :D Oh and not that I am bitter or anything like that but I have been told that the ex's stupidity and self centredness have finally caught up with him in a really big way and I know that this is really mean but I just cannot help smiling just a little bit at the thought. :o

I do not know how to explain this really but it was just a brilliant day right from the start. :D My boss met with me today and was really complimentary about how well I am doing and has said that if I keep going the way that I have started then she would definitely back me if I chose to apply for a promoted post which fairly pulled the rug from under my feet but in a good way. :D A few of my old friends from home are also coming up to visit this weekend which should be really good and I cannot wait to show them around and introduce them to my new home. I met my sister after work and she dragged me to the Estee Lauder counter and bought me really nice skincare things after telling the consultant to please feel free to explain fully to me what happens when you do not look after your skin properly which she did like the true professional salesperson that she is. :o I also got a really nice freebie which is a new make up bag with a selection of products in it which are all absolutely fabulous. :D We went for hot chocolate next which I love doing and had a girl catch up where she shared all of details about my poor ex and I confess that I am still sort of gloating now. :o
