Hi sorry I'm late for February! I'm declaring £650. Thanks No 079 Rosie D x0

Of course SF, it's the least we owe you! Will do so after work
My savings look a lot like Richy's. £300 FD RS and £250 TSB RS no matter what. I also have the Flexclusive, currently dripfeeding but hoping to start actually contributing in a couple of months as I don't have enough to dripfeed for a year!
Anything extra e.g. cashback or VSP goes into my TSB current account. I also have a full FlexDirect but this is dwindling due to the dripfeeding. Finally, my emergency fund goes into a Tesco current account. I can't be !!!ed with messing around with DDs,otherwise I'd replace the Tesco with a Halifax due to the low numbers and proportionately high reward.
My FD RS comes out midway through the month so I store that £300 in one of the 5% current accounts. Also any "extra" money that will be needed this month, for example this month I have road tax and MOT so I'll need the money but not immediately. I don't count this as savings and I save it in YNAB as "storing" so I know it's just temporary placement to get a few days' extra interest.0 -
OK not been on the thread for a while, been struggling with my asthma and a series of chest infections through alot of Jan and pretty much all of Feb. Been in and out of hospital and the doc is sick of the sight of me. Made me very grateful to be in the UK with the NHS who looked after me.
I have added a few bits to the total, but no where near what I would have liked. The only good news is once we get into spring OH's second S/E business really takes off. He has two buisnesses one doing IT repair locally and the other is odd job work, painting etc and gardening. Obviously gardening is seasonal and during the spring/summer months alongside his other jobs he works alot of hours and often 7 days a week, but he earns alot more during that period than over winter.
So that will be a real chance to really boost the savings, also hoping once the weather is better it will help my asthma and enable me to work more and have a good clear of the house and hopefully sell some stuff to add more to the coffers. I also like to grow some veggies and fruit etc which reduces our costs over the period as well. All adding up to a good summer I hope.

Having received a cheque for £1,251 from my employer sharesave plan (cancelled it), I'm looking at a bumper March figure as I wasn't previously including the money saved when it was being held separately to exercise the share options."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

Another £15 added to savings. New total £1260. Hoping to get to £1800 by end of March.
SF I subscribed to your blog a while ago and get the email updates. I love reading the updates, they help to keep me motivated. In particular I have been interested to read about you starting an Stocks and shares ISA - I have been thinking about this too and will look to do it probably next year or the year after. This year I am concentrating on setting money aside for new (to us) cars so the money is there for that when we need it which won't be too soon I hope and adding some more cash to my emergency fund which took a bit of a hit last year (aiming to get it back up to £20k). Best of luck with getting your numbers up on the site.0 -
My KEnt Reliance (4%) RS matured yesterday. I went down today to a) open another one b) sort the matured one out - get it transferred out to my regular saver ISA. When I got down there ( live 19 miles away, so a 38 mile round trip) I realised that I had forgotten my passbook. I had only taken the letter down with me. So I couldn't close the account and transfer the money. I was so cross with myself. I was really looking forward to posting my interest. It wasn't a totally wasted trip because I was able to open my new RS.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Interesting I thought I would be able to log into my Kent Reliance account and transfer it out, will I need to go to a branch to do that do you think?
I will open a new one in branch thought, Mine isn't due to mature till 30/03/16.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards.
