I know what you're getting at, I'm a Mint Cinnamon user, but I'd also hazard a guess that aside from this forum the vast majority of users don't have a clue beyond opening their browser.
Any alterations to the desktop settings would probably be limited to changing the background picture, to the kids or family pet.

Argh -- updating software in Windows is so tedious. Once command in Linux, and everything's up-to-date.
That's my biggest pet hate about Windows, updating a new install is about as much fun as having hot knitting needles poked into my eyes.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
