Windows10 + Linux

Out of interest, which Windows-like distro do you recommend? Linux Lite? Zorin? Mint Cinnamon?
For the ones who were panicking about not being able to get to grips with anything other than Windows I tend to use Zorin. All of those who tried it made the switch.
For those not fazed by a change I chose Mint or Debian and most got on with it and switched. A big part of the decision was, I think, that moving to Linux gave a big performance increase over Windows on older machines.
I usually set their machines to dual boot so the could use Windows if they wanted but once converted I removed Windows to give them more disk space.
I've only had one failure and he is on about giving Linux another go, mainly because I've told him I'm not prepared to go round every week and keep patching his system up which is his preferred option. :mad:One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
I hadn't heard of Zorin - is it as good as it looks?0

I really don't see the point in trying to move people from Windows to Linux by using a Windows 10 lookalike interface.0

Some people do not like significant change, and can be encouraged by something which appears familiar.
I (genuinely) wonder what these people would think of XFCE. It's simple in an XP-like way, so doesn't look like the latest versions of Windows, but it's really intuitive to use.0 -
I did wonder about converting my parents to Mint, its mostly the same as XP they are used to. But whilst tinkering i thought what if they needed to install a driver and that was it, there was no way i could talk them through all that.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

KDE is also fairly familiar looking for Windows users, although delving into the desktop settings themselves would take some getting used to.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I know what you're getting at, I'm a Mint Cinnamon user, but I'd also hazard a guess that aside from this forum the vast majority of users don't have a clue beyond opening their browser.
Any alterations to the desktop settings would probably be limited to changing the background picture, to the kids or family pet.Move along, nothing to see.0
