Many people on here seem to be getting irked that some people are raving about Christmas already, and have already put decorations and lights up! (I am a bit! actually)
So when does Christmas start for you?/Your family?
I don't mean when you start getting gifts etc, but when you put the decorations and lights up, and when you think Christmas REALLY starts. ::)

Well, it's Advent tomorrow, the first of 4 Advent Sundays. Christmas doesn't start until after that. For me, it starts on Christmas Eve.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

I don't put the tree up until December and it goes up on the most convenient weekend, which is why I can't answer the poll as the date may vary year to year. I am not a fan of seeing trees/decs up in houses in November unless there are exonerating circs as to why (eg illness, being posted abroad). I can't answer when does Christmas start as I don't really know what you mean. I shop for presents all year round as and when I see something. Any cards written, sent or meals out are all done within the month of December.0

I work, and work hard, all through December so others can have their nights out and meals out and Christmas parties. I haven't had a Christmas party, or nights out with my DH in December for years. So Christmas is a last minute thing. The tree and decorations go up on the last day off we have together before Christmas, and come down as soon as possible after New Year.DFW Nerd no 239.....Last Personal Debt paid off Nov 2012!

If I thought I could get away with it, I'd have my christmas tree up and lights on it twinkling all year round.
As it is, my tree will go up sometime in the next week, then it will look all cosy and inviting in my living room until after New Year, when it will come down and the room will look all bare again

All I do is respray the spiders webs in the corners of the living room about 2 weeks before the big day.0

Usually the weekend before , so the 19th or 20th this year.0

I'll probably put my decs up on 18th December. 20th is my DD1's birthday and since she was born ( 47 years ago this year:eek:) I've always got the house all festive to celebrate.
Only exception is my perpetual Advent calendar which comes out on Monday.
I do get tired of them very quickly though and find it hard to hang on until 6th January, but I do my best.0 -
Tree goes up on the first day of Advent (this year that's, well, tomorrow) and comes down on the 12th day of Christmas (Jan 6th)
But since it's "closest Sunday to Dec 1" I'll just answer Dec 1-7 on that wee pollAqua 0/1850 Cap.One 0/450 Vanquis 0/500 HSBC 0/100

I did explain it in the first post what I meant.
I don't mean when you start getting gifts etc, but when you put the decorations and lights up, and when you think Christmas REALLY starts. :
Thanks for your comments. Hope the explanation helps you pick a choice.
