Have you asked your bank for "chargeback"?

Punters paid by bank transfer after being told their initial credit or debit card payment failed.

    It's a well used con.

Chargeback can't be used for bank transfers.

And if a bank transfer is asked for just don't send 1, use a reputable website or a bricks and mortar store, I can't stress enough to follow this advice.
  • Has anyone been successful with a refund?

They can try and claim it back, the voluntary banking guidlines where amended last year and they have to try and work with other banks to get it back, although not always sucessful
  • I have found this information on HSBC.

(If a payment is made into your account as a result of fraud we can deduct it from your account at any time.
If we deduct a payment from your account and this leads to your account either:
    • going overdrawn and you don’t have a covering formal overdraft facility on your account; or
    • going over an existing formal overdraft limit
we’ll treat this as an informal overdraft request from you.)

I'm guessing that if the account is still open, which is unlikely, then there is a possibility of a refund. I'm hoping that I have a small chance.

There is another website emaelectronics.nicebarg.co.uk. Is this anything to do with the scam?

perhaps it has something to do with the big building with "EMA" written on it in the middle of Zetland road....

    https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.8607704,-4.3694646,3a,75y,66.06h,85.66t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1saK98frcNrHBFR2XvgYMeSA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

It might of course have nothing to do with it, but their website did list zetland rd as their address.

Scammers often steal the identities of legitimate companies, and a quick search on Google lists EMA as an electronics manufacturer, rather than a retailer.
