If you paid by bank transfer then you are almost certainly not going to get your money back as the account you've paid it to has almost certainly been emptied by now. If you paid by card then contact your bank/card provider.

Looking at the WhoIs details for the domain, it was previously registered using privacy protection to hide the registrant details, which is a big red flag for any eCommerce site. It is now showing as re-possessed by GoDaddy, most likely because the registrant paid with a stolen credit card and the payment has now been reversed.
• Hi there.. I myself have fell for this scam. I found an Xbox one and game on line following a Google search. £318 but if I registered I got a 10% code which I did. And the balance was £280.12
I paid by card and the following day I received a text from EMA saying Dear Brookes Wendy,
Debit Card Transaction Rejected - ORDER ID: 680496257 - MICROSOFT Xbox One & Destiny: The Taken King Bundle...
Invoice sent to:
Alternative payment method has been sent in the Payment Invoice.
We will dispatch the product immediately after receiving your payment confirmation.
Waiting for your bank transfer payment.
Thanks,
E.M.A Electronics Ltd.
So I called them on 0141 356 4875
Glasgow, Scotland and I man answered and said I would have to pay by bank transfer and an email will be sent to confirm.
So I stupidly did this and received no email so I called him back and he said yes we have your payment and the item will be delivered Tuesday (today)
Today has come and I wanted to track my delivery so I went on line to find the site has been taken down.
At this point I'm beginning to worry. So I called and the phone just rang out. I googled the web site with the word scam and came to this.. Felt sick! Seems I'm not the only one!!!
I've contacted my bank and they told me to contact the police which I did and they put me in touch with action fraud. I've make a full report with them account numbers times dates etc.
And they said it is probably under investigation as we speak.
There's nothing I can do.. My bank has come back to me today with a letter stating as I made the payment it's my fault.
I've been robbed!! I'm a victim of a crime!! I have my own business making cakes, I advertise on Facebook, I have people transfer deposits to my bank account and use PayPal. But then I'm an honest person and would never take another persons money for nothing in return. That is robbing. I hope these nasty spineless poor excuse of a human get what is coming to them.. I really do! As for me all my hard work this last month I've given away and my son hasn't his Xmas present
• Unfortunately I have fallen for this convincing scam to.
The same thing happened where I entered my card details and got a text as well as an email to state my payment got rejected and to transfer it to a bank account.

I pay £600 for a laptop. My bank said they are not reliable for this as it was a transfer I made.
It is soo frustrating, I have been saving months for this purchase.

Really hope they get caught. I contacted trustedshops as I received an email stating they would protect my transfer and got the following response from them:

Thank you for your message.

EMA Electronics was a fraud website. Your order is not covered by the Trusted Shops guarantee.

EMA Electronics is NOT a Trusted Shops member. It is a fraud website that was misusing our logo and sending fake emails in our name. They had even duplicated and customised the Trusted Shops profile from a real member. Our legal team are dealing with this.

We have already been in touch with the London police and we recommend that you also take legal action against the online retailer. You can file a complaint here

actionfraud or by telephone 0300 123 2040.

We released an article about a very similar case in our Twitter and Facebook accounts recently, also giving information on how to recognise a real Trusted Shop.
• I am also a victim of this scam. I have lost £829.99. I feel let down by the manufacturer as I telephoned them asking them to provide me with a stockist for the item as it was out of stock with the high street store. They then gave me the website address for the stockist which was Ema Electronics. Ema also used a false company number and I am corresponding with Companies House regarding this. I have also spoken to the company who provided the payment protection, who are also a victim to this scam. I have spoken to Action Fraud who told me that they took the website down on Monday morning. I checked with my bank before I did the transfer to make sure that this was safe, they informed me that it was safer than paying with card. I have lodged complaints with both my bank and the supplier who are now both listening to the recordings of the telephone conversation. I have noticed a thread about Ema on this forum dated back as far as 2008. If only I had checked MSE forum before going ahead with this purchase. A very expensive lesson learned. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
• Hi Dormerroof
Sorry to hear of your loss. The website actually disappeared sometime Friday afternoon/ early Friday evening.
My order ID was 3480496257 and Wendybb1972 was ORDER ID: 680496257 - does this mean looking at the first digits you were number 68 and I was number 348 - that's a lot of orders in between. Hopefully most were Credit Cards and no money actually changed hands.
• Hi. 740496257 was my order number which I placed on the 27th November, unfortunately I don't think anyone could pay by credit card, the only way to pay was bank transfer. I think a lot of people have lost a lot of money. I don't understand why this scam was able to operate as it was first noticed in 2008 according to a previous MSE post on the forum. Action fraud told me that they had taken the website down on Monday.

Their last domain name was registered on 2nd November 2015.

I guess they keep moving around.

Anyone could set up a website for less than £10 and offer items for sale, pretend card payments failed and request a bank transfer instead.

This incarnation appears to have been shut down within four weeks.
• I was asked to transfer the money into a HSBC account. I notice that Lloyds was another account they used. Which account have others paid money into?

perhaps it has something to do with the big building with "EMA" written on it in the middle of Zetland road....

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.8607704,-4.3694646,3a,75y,66.06h,85.66t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1saK98frcNrHBFR2XvgYMeSA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

It might of course have nothing to do with it, but their website did list zetland rd as their address.
• Have you asked your bank for "chargeback"?
